speeds nearly the same
I was worried about speed decrease with a splitter but it's nearly the same! The speed on Xbox x without was about 850mbps and with is 830 to 870mbps so sometimes faster. latency is still under 30ms with this. I unfortunately bought a shielded 25ft cat8 , overkill I know, that was too short so had to extend about 6ft using this and a vandesail cat6 and it works the same. the cheaper monoprice splitter by comparison is def slower by 50mbps. Wouldn't matter on Xboxone or giga ports, but devices with max 100mb speed can't afford slowdowns when streaming 4k.

Just straight-through wire. Then why don't they work?
I ordered three of these in 2010 to couple CAT5 wire I had installed into the walls during construction of an addition to the house. The CAT5 wire in the wall was just to get wire run to the outlet box then I would either install network plates or just use them with (these) couplers. One of them lasted about 6 months before I started losing signal then another one quit shortly after that. I diagnosed the problem to these inexpensive couplers. The last one still carries signal... but I won't trust it to remain reliable. Come on... it's just wire in those little boxes so nothing should fail. They should last forever. Right? I guess you get what you pay for.Actually, it's not the wire! It's the plastic piece that aligns the pins in the groves with the case. If you push a CAT5 wire end into the coupler crooked or too forcefully, you break off the little plastic tit (protrusion) that keeps the pins from being pushed back into the case. These aren't meant to be plugged in then removed frequently like I was using them for.I'm ordering some Belkin or similar heavy duty ones like they use where I used to work.

Works perfectly but not exactly as described
I ordered 10 of these from niceEshop. They arrived from China a month earlier than promised. Nice. I tested and verified that all of them worked. My only issue is that the items that I received don't seem to match the description of the item. My couplers have no letters, numbers or any other markings that identify them as "Tripp Lite". My couplers are beige, but they appear to be off-white in the photos. Not a big deal, but I would have preferred off-white.

Good Quality RJ45 Coupler
This is a good quality coupler that comes in handy when I need to temporarily extend a specialty serial cable i use that is DB9 on one end and RJ45 on the other. I have also used around the lab numerous times for temporarily extending CAT5 network cables without any issues. Definitely a useful little device to have in your toolbox.

When you need one of these you will be glad you have it.
I know a Coupler is not proper for keeping the signal pure but is a life saver at times. When you don't have the correct length patch cord when just doing a temporary install. This one works as expected.

Does the job!
Not a whole lot to say here. It's a networking cable coupler, and it works. I used this to connect two 50 ft. networking cables when I built an HTPC for the living room, so I wouldn't have to move the router from the office. The cables snapped in tightly, and after two months, it seems to be going strong.

Reliable, inexpensive. Must have for any home network stock.
Well...it's an ethernet coupler, not much more you can say about that. From my experience, this item has been reliable, and I would go with a good name brand like Tripp Lite on this one over something from radio shack or home depot. Cheaper couplers will not work in the long run because the pins simply don't stay put, but you will not have that problem with this product.
