ReIT is a new concept in India and this book will make you clear a lot of jargons.

After doing lots of reading from investing books, I wanted to learn more about the REIT asset class of investments. This book had some good information, but the main information I was looking for was how taxes are reported and why they are fairly complicated. The author only gave a two page appendix on taxes. I felt like he spent way too much time on why you should invest in REIT's and the aspects of when to buy and what to look for individual REIT's and not the big picture of owning REIT's in an mutual fund or REIT index fund. I was more concerned on how taxes affect your investment's location (Taxable vs. Tax Advantaged) and that was totally ignored. Dissapointed.

I was hoping to gain some insights on how to value and model REITs and I am very disappointed after reading this book. It doesn't give any in-depth analysis on any aspect of REITs. It's more of for individual investors who don't know what REITs are. The topics are too broad and general. It feels more like a book that promotes REIT investing rather than telling you how to pick and select REITs.

This is certainly a well-written book on arguing the case for REITs.Up until recently, real estate market was too much localized and handledmostly by "self-proclaimed gurus" or "professionals" but security market had come up with a great way for average investors to get some exposure in real estate market all over the world.Another good thing about investing in REIT is that you don't have to go through the trouble of dealing with tenants, lawyers, agents, brokers, and etc.Also ETF combined with REIT will make it so much more easier also.The author has definitely long history of professional investing and management and you can tell when you read the book.
