Hard bits, not flakes. Hurts your teeth when you bite one.
The consistency is too big and almost bark like. If your cooking with it, it would be great, but on pasta or a pasta salad and things of that nature, not so good. Felt like you were chewing stems. Should be flaky and leaf only in order to work. This needs some improvement.

Doesnt taste like basil
Doesnt taste like basil. Doesnt cook like basil. Breaks your teeth. No one could eat the entire dish cooked with it. It smells like fennel seed. Needs quality assurance

Smells like Chinese Basil rather than the more common (in the US) Italian Basil
There are different kinds of basil and they taste wildly different. This has the almost minty, astringent aroma of Chinese Basil. We were looking for a dried basil to add to Italian dishes, so it's a miss. But otherwise it's seems fine, in terms of quality and freshness. Not sure we'll use it with tomato sauces, though.
