Knitter's PrideKP120601 Nova Platina Deluxe Interchangeable Needles Set

This is a great set! It has nice slip on the needles. The cords tighten nicely and I've never had it come loose! Make sure you use the tightening key to get it snug. It comes with a ton of different sizes and lengths of cord. I'm very happy with my set!

I've stuck to DPNs for all my circular knitting but I finally decided I would at least try interchangeable circular needles, if only because I could use the cord length for blankets and other wide projects. I didn't want to spend too much on a set that probably wouldn't see much use, but I also didn't just want to get only one or two sizes--it would be just my luck I'd end up needing every size but the ones I got. Since I have this particular line in both straight needles and DPNs, I opted to go for them here.I'm definitely glad I did. I like the sharper tips and longer taper of the other Nova Platina needles I have and these deliver with that, too. It comes with a decent range of cords, though they aren't the only lengths available (I ordered a full set separately). One of the cords I got with these needles did have an issue with the threads on one connection--the join was too thick to actually screw in and the threads looked improperly machined--so I couldn't use it at all. It would have been more of an annoyance if I hadn't ordered extra cords.The finish did already start wearing off one of the needles after only one small project but it's twin still looks fine and I haven't seen the same wear off the other set I'm using on another project.Overall, from the short time I've been using these, I'm pretty happy with them and with what I paid for them.

*** Stars.Like some reviews noted, some needle tips had burrs. As a jewelry lover, I had the tools available to fix them. (Rotary tool, buffing wheels, polishing compounds. White diamond on high speed, gentle pressure, followed with red rouge on high speed, medium pressure.) Took me about 5 minutes to smooth out the 4 tips. Once repaired, knitting is fast and smooth. Tips are sharp enough to make me regret using my fingers to push on the tips. (Which is a bad habit I'm working to get rid of.)Cords are pliable without being floppy, perhaps a little stiff for those who employ the Magic Loop Method. You will need to purchase additional cord or cord connectors in order to try on garments. Connection between cord and needle is smooth. I can see some very fine yarns (lace/fingering/sock) catching on the join between the cord and connector.The gauge/ruler is super basic. If you don't already have one, it's fine, but there are better ones out there. The needles themselves have the US size and diameter etched onto the shaft. The needle size tags may be useful for knitters who like to have multiple projects at a time. The case is roomy enough to hold an extra set of cables and most (if not all) of your knitting notions.While the key gives you leverage on the cord, there's nothing for the needle. To firmly attach a needle to a cord, this set should really include a rubber grip pad. Cord length is calculated as cord PLUS needle tips. Cord connectors are sold separately. Boo.Quality control of the needle tips really hurt the rating of an otherwise decent economy set. With a rotary tool and polishing compounds, scratches, scuffs, and worn plating aren't a big deal. Without those additional tools, you should really invest in the big name IC sets. (Addi, Chiaogoo, HiyaHiya, or even KP's other lines.) There are cheaper sets out there, but even the most casual knitter deserves something in the range of this set at minimum. (I myself started with the Boye Needlemaster -- I don't recommend it.)Assuming you get a set without Quality Control issues, KP's Nova Platina's are a decent First interchangeable knitting needles set. Based on what I received, I'd recommend you get something else.

I love knitting with these because it is smooth like butter. I do not like that it snags at the join and the needle bends too easily and it is impossible to get exactly straight again. That said it is a good value and enjoyable to knit with.

These needles are so gorgeous and slick!....excellent to knit with. The points on needles are perfect!......I’ve always wanted to own an interchangeable needle set, and I’m so glad I bought this kit as my ‘first’ one!....it’s as if knitters pride thought of everything!Stitches slip over the joins where wires are connected, as if they don’t exist! Stays tight at joins!I would highly recommend this set to anyone wanting interchangeable needles. Well worth the price!....they even came a week in advance of what I’d been told! WTG Amazon!!

they're lovely thank you!!! and arrived on time the packaging was fiiiine too good to throw away!!! on my end!!i was like having trouble letting it go... which is abnormal for myself... i for one can not read the numbering on the needles so i was reluctant to let go of some the packaging for those reasons and the measurements of the cords were easy to forget... just silly reasons as i am older now...

Good quality of needles. The stitches glide on the needles. It is a piece of heaven (wich can be frustrating for beginners)! I had been knitting with that type of needles, from that brand, for at least 4 years. I strongly recommend it.J'utilise ce modèle d'aiguilles de cette marque, Knitter's Pride Nova Platina, depuis au moins 4 ans. Les mailles glissent à merveille sur les aiguilles : un vrai rêve. Par contre, les débutants peuvent avoir un peu de difficulté puisque les aiguilles sont très glissantes. Je vous recommande chaudement ce produit.

I’ve hesitated for years to buy a set of interchangeable needles, mainly because after 40 years of knitting I have every type, size and length of needles. Well, I’m SO glad I got these. Where to start with the love!? They are so smooth and pointy they actually make knitting a breeze. The cords are far more pliable that regular circulars. And when a pattern says to change to smaller size needles all you do is switch the tips - no need to thread all your stitches from one cable into another! Need the needles before finishing a project? Just leave your stitches on the cord with a cord-stop screwed on! I’ve been using these for months now and I’m still delighted with them!

ok so i too thought i was buying the real deal but these are just kockoffs because as the same previous reviewer showed in her pictures the "chrome" finish has dimished and copper is showing through. i have heirloom knitting needles from my mothers era and hers are true today as the day she bought hers ( not from this brand obviously) without discoloration.too expensive for imitation. too late to return.
