Great for the kids and fairly sturdy
I bought this for my four year old son. I was quite disappointed with how brittle it looked and assumed the lifespan would be short. The construction of it was fairly simply and holds up quite well. My son has had this for a few months and he has not broken it yet, which was a surprise to me.I would recommend this product if you wish to build something with your child and fun playing with it together.

All 5 catapult kits broke while the kids fired marshmallows

Disappointing.
The size was way smaller than I expected. The assembly is not as easy as it seems from the picture and my young nephew who I gave it to couldn't figure it on his own. Also, assembly requires glue and adult supervision.

fun model for dexterous, patient kids
This wooden catapult was a fun, quick build for my 11 yr. old son. The pieces are small and delicate, though, and could easily frustrate a novice builder or younger child. The entire catapult is only about 3 in. by 4 in. so some pieces are quite tiny. The pins on the side are very fragile and broke immediately. We replaced them with toothpicks and coffee stirrers. My son had fun calibrating the catapult and testing his modifications. It was fun science for the price for our family.I would not order it for a young scout group, etc. because it is too finicky to put together and the tiny pieces get lost or break very easily. Older, patient, science students with excellent fine motor skills might enjoy this catapult a lot because it allowed some adjustments and experimentation.

great for scouts and other group competitions
We are doing a "machine night" at scouts, and this is a quick, easy build for "target practice" competitions - now servo-enable it, and put it on a radio-controlled vehicle <grin>

Science Supply brand
My wife is a high school physics and chemistry teacher. I got this kit for her as a fun gift for Christmas, because she assigns a catapult project to her physics classes during the Spring. They must research and build a working catapult, and they are graded on how well it works. I figured it would be fun for her to have a small one to show in class...It turns out that Pitsco is one of the better suppliers of science equipment for secondary and college lab equipment. Definitely worth the price!
