ASWB Masters Exam Secrets Study Guide: ASWB Test Review for the Association of Social Work Boards Exam

The flash cards appear overwhelming and I planned to pair it with the book as I go along. I did purchase rings to keep all the flash cards together until reading the method on how to study with the guides and prefer it to my method.  it has all the information I need built into a flash card. I opted to get flash cards because I needed something I could carry with me to study while on the go. Now that I have been stuck in my home due to COVID, I just find it easier to use daily. The packaging was superb and the perforations made it that much more simple to get through them.

This study guide has a lot to recommend it. One of the best things about it is that it contains a very in depth practice test, with 150 questions, and very detailed answer explanations for every question. The practice test alone is probably worth the purchase price. But there’s more to the guide than the practice test, and the tutorial section is very good. It’s a comprehensive look at topics a person needs to have a good grasp of in order to pass the ASWB Master’s exam. Is it exhaustive? No, but it’s quite extensive, and very helpful when studying for the test. It’s well written and well organized. It’s also written in an educational tone, but not one that’s highly technical or extremely dry. There are other study guides which almost academic textbooks, and finding information in them can be difficult, and once you do find it, the passages can be so long and dense that they’re almost indecipherable. You won’t have that problem with this book. It also contains some tips for preparing for the test which are useful, as well as test-taking tips. All in all it’s a very practical and helpful study guide at a decent price.

This book really helped me prepare for the LMSW exam. It was a great review that built on everything I learned in grad school and helped me go back through topics that I needed to brush up on before the exam. This book provided a great overview of theory, pharmacology, ethics, interventions, and macro practices. The book also provides many test taking skills that were super helpful to me. The LMSW exam is a different kind of beast from any test I've ever taken, and the tips and tricks in this book helped me almost more than the content reviews. I felt much more confident after reading this text and learning more about the exam itself. I will also mention that the practice tests are very useful, but in my experience, they are actually much harder than the real exam. I started to feel demoralized at how many of the questions on the practice tests I didn't know, but reviewing them really prepped me for the exam itself. I would highly recommend this book to anyone studying for the LMSW exam.

I purchased your study guide a week ago and have completed the study material for over half the book so far. I find the study material and videos to be a good brief overview of the ASWB masters exam. I only have three weeks to prepare for the exam. I found this guide to be a good supplemental study guide from my school course studies and other independent study material I have found online and obtain in study groups. I am anxious to see how well the material in this study guides aligns with the LMSW exam. For me, I would like to see a little more detail and real-life examples in some of the topic areas. I feel some of the information is too vague to be able to help me with information that might be on the exam. I will be able to give you better feedback on this once I take the exam. In saying that I have read and heard some great comments regarding how the information in this study guide has helped others past their LMSW on their first try.

So far I am impressed with the study guide. It seems user friendly. I have not used it long enough to know if it met my needs but so far it working for me.

The item arrived in perfect condition. I am now studying for MSW licensure and this book is packed full of helpful information. Most of this information is what I have in my notes from my classes (Research, Practice, etc), so I know it is good information. I just hate that there is not a large number of questions at the back to help me. I have my license at the Bachelors level and used this same book just for "Bachelors" though. It helped me tremendously and I hope this item helps when I go to take licensure. Though this book is packed with information it does not have ALL information in it so you will need to use some notes from your classes to help. Just be sure to go through them. I also built flash cards from my last book to help.

I have taken the undergraduate license exam as well as going through a substantial amount of review content while obtaining my MSW. There is so much irrelevant information and theories in this book it’s comical. One example right off the top of my head, they still list substance use and dependence as two separate disorders. This was updated into on encompassed disorder SUD Substance Use Disorder in the DSM V, this guide which is copyrighted for 2021 still lists this as it was in the DSM IV. There are things about money management and theories that have no bearing to the field of social work that I have not even heard of let alone studied in the entirety of my education up to completion of Graduate school. The review questions in the back are not formatted like the ASWB questions at all, with most being recall questions with complicated vignettes following the recall and no theoretical application to the actual vignette itself. Most ASWB questions are application of the five areas with some recall but nothing like this. This guide is honestly a joke, it’s comical how ill prepared it is for someone sitting for the Masters level exam. Buy the guide on her by Dawn Apgar it’s correct and relevant to the test in all aspects especially content and application. I purchased all the materials they had available on Amazon to study for mine and this guide by Mometrix is the only one I regret purchasing.
