EXCELLENT QUALITY - EXCELLENT PRICE - EXCELLENT OPERATION
Then why not five stars? Because it is a sink strainer basket and I am not going to "love" it. The other reason is the tailpiece washer provided, but I'll get to that later. The basket is all metal, including the "turn 2 seal" surfaces that hold the water in the sink . Once installed, I left an inch of water in both sink bowls and when I came back in four hours, the water was still there. Amazingly, the strainer baskets with the rubber seals are much more likely to leak (check reviews), and down the road, when you look for a replacement for the greasy rubber ring at the hardware store, you won't find it.The product I received does not have the horizontal openings in the basket as pictured on Amazon as another reviewer mentioned. It doesn't effect function, but it's a detail one would expect a vendor to update---how difficult is that? What does affect functionality is that the tail piece for the basket is an 1-1/2" pipe and the washer that comes with the basket has an 1-1/4" hole. The reason is that typically kitchen sink drains are 1-1/2" and vanity sinks are 1-1/4" and someone in the manufacturing end thought that using one size washer for all sinks would squeeze another two cents of profit out of the sale. What that stupid decision means for you and everyone else with a sink is that the sink drain size is effectively reduced and the food particles that should wash down the drain instead collect and clog the drain leaving you to poke at the pieces with a fork 'cause they are too small to pick out of the drain. Take a look in your drain after you install this and you will see the translucent seal encroaching on half the opening. Unfortunately, it doesn't matter what strainer basket you buy. My neighbor paid $55.00 each for some strainer baskets from Lowes and got the same washer which, by the way is a thin piece of plastic that does not compress or have any resilience---exactly the properties that make a washer seal the space between two ill-fitting surfaces. He had to use teflon tape on the threads to get the tailpiece to not leak. The proper size rubber washer that you could buy anywhere five years ago is no longer readily available. So again, just four stars.THE WASHER: The tailpiece washer goes on top of the tailpiece flange inside the nut. Go to the hardware store and buy an O-ring that fills the nut and is an eighth of an inch or so thick

ther are times that size matters.
The quality of the basket was good. It is stainless steel. The strainer fits well and seals properly as far as my inspection saw. The threads are not deep cut and I see a potential for not being able to get enough tightening force before the nut slips the thread if using the plastic nuts. The problem that I had...was the upper sealing ring is 1/4" overall to small. A standard strainer basket is 3-1/2" hole and 4-1/2" diameter upper sealing ring. The undersize creates a health issue when using this undersized ring in a designed and formed 4-1/2" sink sealing surface. It creates a scum and bacteria collecting spot around the ring because the sink water can not drain past the baskets sealing ring lip. This basket will work where there is no formed sealing surface, just an inclined surface to mate against. Just be aware of the ring undersize for your sinks matingsealing surface.

The only style that works
This style is the only one to choose. I fooled around with several styles of sink strainers and they all blocked the water when you didn't want them to and let the sink slowly drain when you want your soapy water to stay. These are great for straining out pieces when rinsing dishes or cleaning vegetables. My only complaint is that one of the two I bought has very shallow threads for the tail piece. Obviously a manufacturing defect and it made installation very difficult and time consuming to get the nut to thread and tail piece to seal. You should not expect to have this problem but it kept me from rating five stars.

Good, but...
Over time the chrome plated pewter T handle deteriorates due to electrolysis. The rest of the stopper is very robust, but that handle should be brass instead of chrome plated pewter.

Great Sink Strainer
We just finished a kitchen remodel and used this in our big kitchen sink. It is very will made with sturdy stainless steel and the wide seal helps to keep a good seal. I hate it when I fill my sink with soapy dishwater only to have it seep out so I purchased this item to avoid this problem and so far it is working very well! No leaking water. We have had it installed for only 1 month now but I had a similar product from another company in my previous kitchen sink which we had for several years and it never leaked. This particular brand is more sturdy and has a better seal. I highly recommend it.

Had some issues
This was installed in a very deep well cast iron sink.Took several tries and a BOATLOAD of putty to seal. The threads are a little thin to the nut ,so it jumped from over tightening and I had to beat it to get it back on track to remove it and add more putty. Also, the paper gasket that is suppose to go between the nut and rubber......throw it away ,it'll just tear and gum up the deal..

Easy installation and works well
Easy installation and works well. A couple of twists on the screw and it forms a tight seal. I couple of twists in the other direction and the water drains quickly while catching food debris.

Very positive up or down action
This is a quality product, very well made, will last as long as the sink does. The action of opening and closing the drain is very positive and easy to do.

I love it . Better than what my sink used to have
I love it . I love how I just have to turn the center a bit to let the water out .
