For the last couple years I've been going crazy buying food storage to prepare for the worst. I like these augason Farm buckets they are huge and good quality and the price is pretty affordable. Particularly this one we don't eat a ton of potatoes but I feel like if we had to we would LOL definitely a good bargain for your buck.

We bought these for camping, as we like the convenience of dehydrated hash browns, but for the two of us a single bulk pack was too much, so we repacked the hash browns into individual quart sized mylar bags, added an oxygen absorber to each and was able to place most of the bags back into the bucket for longer term storage. Now one thing to note is that these shreds take longer to rehydrate than packets you might find the grocery store, but that's a small price to pay for the excellent taste.

These potatoes are quit good, but you have to soak them long enough or you will have a raw potato texture. I add water to cover, then nuke them for a minute. I then let them set for about 5 minutes before cooking.

It's great if you're like me that eat potatoes but not enough to justify a bag of fresh ones. I eat potatoes every once in a while. It's nice to have on hand instead of a whole bag that's just going to sprout down the line. That being said, you have to pay attention to the dates and the quality of the seals. Sometimes I get them and they're sealed tight and no problems. Other times I've had them arrive not entirely sealed with some of the product in the box they were delivered in.

Just finished our old 10 pound Bucket of Augason Farms Potato Shreds. Took about 10 years to use it all, but it never turned rancid or bad to the end. My kids love these potatoes.Sorry to see the new buckets are only 7 pounds.

Good eats.First of all, I recommend purchasing the bung wrench to open the lid off the bucket because it has a tight seal.The portion recommendation is a little smaller than we would normally eat. We double the portion sizes.Easy to make. Just boil in water for 5 minutes, then we pan fry it in a skillet with crisco or bacon fat with a little onion powder.They are just as crispy and flavorful as anything you’d expect at a greasy spoon diner.Great value
