Love grapefruit?
I have had a knife like this for many years and loved how well it worked, so when my daughter in law mentioned how much she loved grapefruit I knew she needed one of these knives. One end of it is slightly curved so it goes between the peel and fruit loosening it and the opposite end cuts the membrane between the sections and very quickly your grapefruit is ready to be eaten. It’s the best grapefruit knife I’ve ever had in my very long life, and I’m sure it will outlast me!

Works as intended
This is a nice tool, and likely works at least as well as any grapefruit knife out there. To be honest, though, I probably get more fruit out when I just use a standard sharp knife to cut in-between each segment of grapefruit, then a regular spoon to pull the fruit off of the peel. Yes, there is more squirting when I use this method, but I find it difficult to cut all the way against the peel with a grapefruit knife and not waste any fruit. Overall the knife is quick and easy to use, and does the job well. It's ever so slightly tedious to clean when bits of grapefruit gets stuck in-between the two blades, but prying the blades apart a little bit while running it under hot water has worked for me. I may or may not destroy my knife by doing that, however.

Sharp knife
My husband loves grapefruit and likes it every morning. This knife is great to cut the fruit up so eating it is easy.

Cuts Grapefruit Prep Time in Half
Well...maybe not quite in half since you still need to cut around the perimeter of the fruit with the curved blade, but you will make half the number of cuts to separate the wedges as compared with a traditional grapefruit knife. And cleanup is no trouble if the knife is rinsed immediately after use.Quality is decent considering the price. The blades are stainless (made in Tiawan) with brass rivets through the wood handle and sandwiched blades. I expect it will last for a long time based on daily use for the past couple months. So far, the double blades are showing no signs of spreading apart with more gap than when it was brand new.I still get the occasional squirt, so I'm not sure about the "squirt-free" promise, but that's not enough to deduct a star from the rating. I only wish I stumbled upon this gadget 20 years ago.

Love It!
I absolutely love this knife! It took me going through a few grapefruit halves before I really got the hang of it, but now I'm a pro! This knife does its job perfectly, and exactly as advertised. I did not experience the issue some of the other reviewers have commented on about getting junk stuck between the blades. Yes, some of the meat would get between the blades, but it would just be pushed out when I cut around the next membrane. The only problem I had in using it was when seeds would get between the blades, and on the rare occasion of that happening, they could just be blown out easily. The only gripe I have about this knife is the lack of some kind of case. The blades on it are very sharp! I take this to the office with me every day, and I'm terrified of cutting myself or my car seats with it. I'll probably just end up buying a separate one for the office, but I shouldn't have to do that! Please, send me a case!

Great tool with just a little practice
I had to practice a bit with this knife, but once I found my groove with it, it worked exactly as advertised. The trick is to make certain you have the double blade positioned directly over the membrane that separates each slice, and as close to the center as you can get it. Then plunge straight down and saw outward to the peel. Once you've gone all the way around you use the other (bent) end to separate the fruit from the peel. Works very effectively, and because of the bend in the blade I don't think a paring knife can do this job anywhere near as effectively. Nice quality item and priced great. Your mileage may vary, but personally I am enjoying more grapefruity goodness with this knife.

Preparing grapefruit is a breeze
This clever little knife has made preparing grapefruit a breeze. The double-bladed straight edge of the knife makes for easy sectioning, while the rounded, serrated blade easily slices the sections from the rind. It took me a few uses to get the hang of using the knife, but once I learned how to use it efficiently I was able to prepare grapefruit faster than with a regular knife. Sometimes little bits of grapefruit get stuck between the double-bladed knife, but it's easy to wiggle the blades open and flush it clean with water. The knife is not super high quality, but for the price is a very good purchase.
