No more thawed freezer goods!
So one night, I forgot to close the freezer door all the way. Disaster ensued. This prompted the purchase of this gadget around a month ago, so I could remotely monitor the temp and have it ALARM if I was to repeat my stupidity.PROS:- monitors on the temp trend- the alarm feature with loud alarm- shows the min and max temperatures reached during its monitoring.- strong signals and range from sensor to base, eg sensor within a freezer in another room still works fine.- temp monitoring range (-40°C to +60°C)- sleek base, not to bulky nor tacky looking.- base had it's own stand or can be fixed to the wall.CONS:- the sensors can seem a little big, but not too much of an issue, about the size of half a banana.- the sections on the base seem out of order; the base is divided into three temp zones, remote sensor 2 at the top, remote sensor 1 in the middle, and the base indoor temp at the bottom..EXPERIENCE:Was easy to get started, just pop in the batteries and temperatures started showing. To test I kept all three (two remote sensors plus the base) together in one place with another independent thermometer, all four showed the same reading within 0.5 °C.Next I popped one remote in the freezer and one in the fridge. The first thing I noticed was it monitors on a trend, not quick spikes, meaning it will average the temperature over a short period of time, so it took a little while for the temps to creep down to the actual temp and indicate (via the trend arrows) that temp was now static. This can be beneficial, for example when you open the freezer door warm air will rush in but if you close the door again fast it'll cool down again. On this device you won't see that quick spike in temp change, but the averaged over 5 or 10 mins, meaning the alarm won't go off every time you open the door. This is perfect for things like fridges, rooms etc where you want ambient temperatures. There is a trend arrow for each section, showing you if the temperature is currently getting warmer, staying the same, or getting colder. Very handy!Setting the alarm can be a tad fiddly, but simple. Just hold down the button for the section you want to alarm for, set the high value, then the low, presto! The alarm will go off on the base, not the remote monitors. It's a loud beeping, not deafening, but loud enough to hear from another room. There are different beep-rates for each three sections, (I'm not sure who'd be able to remember what beep to what section though) and it also flashes the alarming section on the base, you push the corresponding section button to silence the alarm. As the temperature is on trend, the alarm may not immediately go off once hitting the limits if the temp trend is moving slowly, but will if the trend is fast.Eg scenario one when the freezer is going through cooling cycles (turning on and off) you will see that an energy efficient fridge/freezer doesn't just stay the same temp but will turn on when needing to boost the cooling, the temp changes are slow so trend slowly and will not break the alarm if it's reached limit for a couple of minutes. However Scenario two, when I took the remote out of the freezer into room temp, the change is fast so it will alarm pretty quickly (it did within 2-3 mins when I took it out to reorganize the freezer with new shopping). It's been great at making sure I have the correct temps set on the fridge/freezer too, with help of the min and max reached temps. I realised after a day that it's running too warm and to turn up the cooling, next day I realised I'd turned it up too high so balanced it out. Fridge contents are lasting a bit longer now than before I had this gadget. For me it was a great purchase, works brilliantly, and relieves the anxiety about if I shut the freezer door while lying in bed trying to get to sleep!

Good Value Multi-Point Thermometer
I bought this GEMITTO Digital Room Thermometer with 2 Sensors units to monitor the temperatures in two refrigerated cabinets located in a brick-built garage about 25 metres from the house. The system was easy to set up, although one sensor, when placed in one of the cabinets, lost contact with the base unit and had to be removed and paired up again in whilst back in proximity with the base unit. Both sensors now appear to be working properly in their cabinets with the base unit picking up the signals and showing the cabinet temperatures when it is located in the house. Despite displaying temperatures to a precision of +/- 0.1 degrees Celsius, I would not expect these sensors to possess an absolute accuracy of more than +/- 1 or even +/- 2 degrees Celsius over their complete range, but they do give me an indication that the cabinets are still working as they should. For any higher accuracy, they would need to be compared to a standard thermometer system with a much higher absolute accuracy (eg +/- 0.2 deg.C) over a range of temperatures and corrections to the readings made accordingly. However, they do also provide me with a reasonable assessment of the temperature differential within the cabinets over the switching cycle. One anomaly I found was that on clearing the max/min readings on one channel, the base unit appeared to lose signal again from sensor No. 2, then after a minute or two the signal re-appeared but strangely this did not happen for sensor No.1. The system appears to be fairly simple and intuitive to set up and use (unlike others I have used in the past) despite the manual not being translated particularly well for the UK market and I am happy with the performance so far. I cannot yet comment on battery life as I have only just installed the system.

Simple to use, poor instructions and one reservation
I found this simple enough to use although the instructions are a poor translation of some other language and a bit difficult to understand. However its usage is simple enough and the buttons well labelled. I did not check for accuracy as such but with all three sensors together they showed near enough the same temperature. I have no reason to criticise on that basis. My reservation concerns the Max and Min recording. I says very little about this in the instructions, but I had assumed it would show the maximum and minimum temperatures in the previous 24 hours, but it doesn't. The system resets itself every 24 hours so just after a reset it shows the max and the min the same. I assumed the time at which it will reset itself can be set by using the manual reset button, but that is not so either. The only way to set when the max-min resets seems to be to remove the batteries and replace then at the time you want. This must be about the worst of all options for this feature.
