Great guitar for the price
I've had the pleasure of owning and playing the Squier Affinity Series Stratocaster in Montego Black Metallic for a while now, and it has genuinely exceeded my expectations in every aspect. Here's why:1. Playability: From the moment I picked it up, the comfort and ease of play stood out. The laurel fingerboard feels smooth under the fingers, allowing for effortless transitions between chords and fluid lead lines.2. Durability: Despite regular use, this Strat has held up remarkably well. It's been a trustworthy companion, maintaining its integrity and tuning stability even during extended jamming sessions.3. Weight & Comfort: The lightweight design is a blessing, especially during longer gigs or practice sessions. It sits comfortably against the body, reducing any strain on the shoulder or back.4. Aesthetic Appeal: The Montego Black Metallic finish is nothing short of stunning. It gleams under stage lights and draws attention with its refined elegance. The photos online do not do it justice; it's a beauty to behold in person. I own several guitars and this one is the only one I've actually received compliments about.5. Sound: Last but not least, the tonal qualities of this Squier Strat are impressive. It delivers a range of sounds that cater to various genres, from crisp cleans to gritty overdriven tones. It holds its ground against many higher-priced competitors. In summary, this Squier Affinity Series Stratocaster isn't just an affordable option but a high-quality instrument that delivers in both form and function. Whether you're a beginner looking for a reliable first guitar or an experienced player seeking a dependable backup, this Strat is a fantastic choice. Highly recommended!

Unbeleiveable
I bought this because a freind of mine purchased a Squier Affinity Tele. I was pretty blown away at how good the guitar was. I have an American Deluxe Tele, Strat, and Mex Tele and Strat, And an American Pro Series Strat, just to name a few. Alongside some Gibson LP's and SG's, PRS Custom 24 10 Tops. And half a dozen Taylors. The look and feel, playability and sound of this guitar makes me wonder why I'm buying the higher end guitars. Lefty's are cheated as is with limited choices. But I'll say this, this is one decent guitar. And for the $200 buck I paid for it, it's great. When I hooked up to my Marshall, I could go clean or dirty and basically get the same sound as from my American Deluxe Strat. And no hum or feedback. Which really amazed me. It sounds like noiseless pickups. The guitar itself is absolutely gorgeous . If not for the headstock you couldn't tell the difference between it and the American Standard. Excellent purchase. Fretboard is rosewood, feels great and plays great. Again, you can't go wrong with this guitar. Give it a try. I sincerely don't think you'll be disappointed. It came perfectly set up right out of the box. I didn't have to do a thing but tune it. And it was only off tune by half a step. But this guitar. You won't be disappointed. I sure wasn't.

UDATE TO ORIGINAL REVIEW.
So I bought this guitar based on my experience with an Affinity Telecaster that I'd bought a couple years ago. THAT guitar was awesome for the price, and I expected the same from this Strat. I have several Strats American and Mexican and bought this Squire strictly for a community project I'm involved in. When this guitar arrived, the first thing I noticed is that one of the string trees was all bent out of shape. The setup on this thing was nonexistent. Strings after I put them under tension were against the frets all the way to the fourth. I had to do a full setup, having to use every millimeter of truss rod relief, as well as saddle adjustment way more than is normal. Even now there's buzzing at the first fret that can only be rectified if I breakout a file. I'm sending it back. Maybe I got a bad one, but if you're a beginner and don't know how to do a setup, or have ever done fret work, I wouldn't take the chance. A setup at a shop will cost you half the price of the guitar for f#&k sake. You can get this guitar at a guitar center for the same price already setup or at least playable. I'm very disappointed after having previously had such a good experience with the Affinity Tele I mentioned earlier. Like I said, maybe I got one that's not typical, but I wouldn't take the chance if you're not able to do your own work on it.UPDATE:So after coming back and reading all the other really positive reviews of this guitar I decided to try again. I'm glad I did. The guitar came sooner than expected which was good because I would have sent it back since I needed it before the estimated delivery date. This time the guitar was set up pretty much perfect. I didn't have to do any adjustment at the truss rod or saddle. It was in tune down a half step but I replaced the strings with the David Gilmour set from GHS and still didn't have to do any set up. The box was in perfect condition as was the guitar. This thing sounds awesome. It's really hard to believe this guitar is less than 250 bucks brand new. I'm going to leave the above review because it was my experience, but I'm willing to bet that what I experienced was not the norm and chalk it up to S%*t happens. Based on my current order and subsequent delivery I'd recommend this to anyone. I'm very satisfied.
