It was a great surprise to find these Blue Fish cameras. I had purchase several "discount" but well reviewed cameras to add to our home security system. Those lasted about a year before the color went crazy and they just were not working as they should or with one of them the video just died, and none of our cameras are out in the weather even though they all were supposed to be "all weather" cameras.First off, I had to change nothing but the cameras themselves as the video and power plugs are the exact same type as the system we have and are the standard. Just take off the old camera, install the new Blue Fish cameras as the screw mounting hole is the same size, adjust the new camera for the wider field of view and you're good to go! Definitely plug and play!The Blue Fish were well reviewed and a great price so I bought 3 of them. I really was looking for a wider field of view to, and these are perfect for my application and use. One of the old brand that died was the one above the front door and that was not wide enough field of view so it wasn't working well unless the person stood in one spot. The Blue Fish brand replacement works so much better! Not only a clearer image but a wider view that now covers a person walking up the stairs to the porch and the front door. Much better!I can really say these cameras are great bargains and I hope they'll last and I will probably buy a few more too!

This is a VAST improvement from the stock cameras that come on Night Owl systems. I was about to give it 4 stars because I fought the mounting "wing nut" to the point of thinking something was wrong, but after i got off the ladder i reminded myself that all camera mounts suck in some fashion or another...and when i saw the image they displayed, I decided it would get 5 stars, because i cant give 4.75. It is definitely much better than a 4 star camera, but i digress...once you get the thing finagled into place, you will be amazed by it. For $25, you can't beat the image, or the added IR at night. Mine do both fight going into night mode almost as much as my kids fight going to bed, but it only lasts about a minute, and then they settle down. The viewing angle is much more natural as to what you see when you're head is up where the camera is. Overall a great product.

This unit is the best security camera I have ever bought! The lens angle is amazing. If mounted on your house, you can see your two (yes, two) neighbor's houses across the street in full view. At night, although the IR ring is visible (slight red hue), it illuminates everything in sight; no IR flood lights needed.Based on previous reviews, this is my experience:- The mounting threads are metal and will not strip unless you force it into the hole (top or bottom) at an abnormal angle- The built-in IR flood light makes objects visible from at least 250-300 feet away (or more)- The daytime color is crisp, sharp, and in focus for any distance- The night time black/white view is clear and makes any object or subject extremely visible on your security monitor- This unit is compatible with all security systems that take a BNC video connector and standard 12 VDC power connector- The size is comparable to an average man's clenched fist (not including bracket)- The housing is metal, and its black color is a true black that does not fade- The bracket is metal and has a simple adjustment ring that allows for ease of use without fancy tools (when compared to other products)- Improper installation and use will obviously result in improper operation (duh!) -- Unsure why this product has lower ratings; must be user error.Overall, I'm buying more of these Blue Fish models to replace my worthless Swann units. You can't beat this price point, and its quality is comparable to a $150 unit easily. -- Stop searching on Amazon for a better unit and price; you won't find one (trust me)!

Don't get me wrong... BlueFish is a great quality camera and this one is 100 percent, BUT this is NOT a Wide Angle Lens. I'll use it somewhere else, but I will not buy from this vendor ever again!

I bought this to replace a Defender camera. I hooked it up yesterday and was amazed at how good it looks. The 2.8 lens also gave me a much better field of view than the Defenders with 3.6. All in all it seems like a good inexpensive camera.Cons:At night there is too much IR intensity in the center when up close. The camera angle adjustment is tricky, and doesn't tighten well. The camera is staying in place so far.

I've been pleased with this camera. The picture isn't razor-sharp, but it's what I'd expect for the money.As shown in the pictures, it can be mounted from the top or the bottom. That's really useful. I've had some cameras with built-in mounts that I couldn't use in certain locations.When mounted from the top, the thumb screw secures the metal sun shade. Since I mounted mine from the bottom, it would have been nice to have had an extra thumbscrew.One thing worth noting for some whose picture might not be so good: The most reasonable assessment requires a monitor plugged directly into the DVR. I have a couple of CCTV DVRs. One delivers very good performance over the internet, and the other doesn't. For the latter, the camera picture is a bit blurry, but it has nothing to do with the camera.

I received the camera today and installed it in my garage connected to my 8 channel night owl system. It is much better wide angle view than the night owl cameras at a much cheaper price . Night vision is very nice. Working well so far. If it holds up I will order more. Good buy.
