So far so good....
I have some picky eaters, so I have to grill for the full range of doneness. I have those who want their meat practically mooing, and one who wants it well done, no red at all. So, thats a bit of a challenge that I usually fail at miserably. Hence the decision to invest in a good digital thermometer. Sadly, I have yet to find a digital thermometer that will last beyond a year. I was going to buy a Thermapen (heard great things about the quality) to get fast, accurate temperature measurements at the grills ( I have a Magic Chef & a Big Green Egg), but the more I thought about it, the more I realized that my biggest problem when I grill is being distracted, usually by guests, and then overcooking the meat. So thats when I realized that the iGrill might be the better purchase because it can alert me on my iPhone which is usually on my belt to let me know when its time to turn the meat or take it off the grill. I also smoke meats, so the range alert feature would be useful to let me know when my fire has died down.I have only used the iGrill once, but I am so far impressed. It works as advertised and the steaks were perfect. The bluetooth signal is strong enough to pick up just about anywhere in the house or backyard. And if you do lose the signal, it picks right back up when you come back in range. The preset temperature feature is nice too. If it keeps working this well, I will have some much happier campers when I cook. Some reviewers say the unit is flimsy, but I don't see that. I do recommend the black over the white however. The only issues I have noticed is:1) The iPhone reports a low iGrill battery level - one red bar. But I have checked the batteries and they are fine. I have sent an email to iGrill service, but nothing yet.2) Despite a miriad of alert tones you can pick on the iPhone, the temperature alerts just vibrate and show an on-screen notice. Thats fine in a quiet environment, but I don't think it will be enough to jar me from my conversations with guests and get me over to the grill, so I'm going to have to figure this one out. I'm assuming for now its user error.Update:9/2/2013 - Three complaints after having used this device for more than a year:1. The batteries drain quickly. They should have designed it for a rechargeable battery.2. The bluetooth distance is really bad. The app frequently loses the connection. Going out side to the grill restores it, but that defeats the purpose.3. The probe suddenly started reading 165 degrees, even when resting outside the grill. Its hot in Arizona, but not that hot! The batteries read fine. I reset the unit by removing the batteries but no luck.

Great idea, works well, although cheap implementation
I was an early adopter of the iGrill. Love the concept, and the ipad app (Pro version) really is useful. With this device, I can monitor two pieces of meat at the same time using the same application. I am mostly using this for my smoker, and for the longer cook times in the smoker, I am able to monitor the temperature curve of the meat to get an extremely accurate assessment of when the meat will be up to temp. (usually it is hard to judge whether that 8 lb brisket will be ready by the time your guests arrive).FYI, it can only connect to one device at a time (e.g. you can't have it sending data to both your ipad and your iphone), which someone has asked. My biggest/ significant complaint is that the plastic of the housing is quite brittle. The first device I received had the screws for the back stripped out and you could hear the plastic piece rattling around inside the housing. IDevices was great and replaced the device. The second didn't suffer the problem, but it is pretty clear that this could suffer a similar fate because of the type/molding of the plastic. Two other nits: 1) The 'stand' is really useless. There is not enough friction in the stand's hinge to actually keep it from opening all the way or closing shut. Poor design. Not a huge issue, I just lay it flat, and I am always looking at the ipad anyway. 2) The 'touch' buttons on the front are really mediocre. I guess they work, but there is no tactile feedback that the button press registers. This becomes apparent when powering the device on -- it takes a few seconds to before anything visible happens, and I find myself pushing, pushing, pushing the button without realizing that I am power cycling the device over and over again.

Doe Not Work
I purchased this to use as I smoked a bunch of meat for July 4th picnic. It worked perfectly for about an hour then the Bluetooth lost connectivity. I have tried every thing to get it to reconnect, even tried a different iphone, nothing worked. Without the Bluetooth it is a useless device because you cannot see the LED display in the sunlight. When it was working it was great but that means very little when it dies 1 hour into a 12 hour cooking cycle.I would not recommend this to anyone. IF they made it a bit more robust it would probably be great, the app is terrific but if it will not connect, well like I said, useless.

IGrill brilliant
Love the way you can use the iPad with it. Having two probes is a great idea, handle to hang on kitchen cabinet a good feature.

Good product; ads in (paid) software annoying
Overall, it works fairly well. The two probes only agree with each other within 10 degrees C or so (when placed in exactly the same place) so they're not terribly accurate. But the most annoying thing, that really detracts from the product, is that after paying of the product you STILL get ads included in the software for other products from the same manufacturer!

Three Stars
it is somewhat temperamental and does not appear to be very accurate
