While not PC, grandson loves reading the series
Some my raise the PC issues around Native Americans, these stories (a series of texts) don't belittle the Native characters and the assumed superior views held by the Cowboys in these tales are called into question in the texts. My grandson and granddaughters enjoy reading these a lot. cl

A classic read!!
This series of books are classics for elementary students. I read them to both my 5th graders and then 3rd graders and both ages loved them, hung onto every word, were totally caught up in the magic of the cupboard. I have now started my 10 year old grandson on them and the first book has him hooked. I purchased this particular book to get him the complete series.

It all started with the "Indian in the Cupboard"
My nephews love this series. This is just one more book that offers them hours of reading enjoyment. Be sure to start with the first book, "The Indian in the Cupboard". That will get them hooked on reading (whether you read it to them or let them read it by themselves).

The Mystery Of The Cupboard
The further adventures of Omri and the magical cupboard that brings his plastic figures to life. In this book Omri has moved house to the country, the magical cupboard is safely in the bank, the roof of the new house is thatched and while it is being repaired a diary is found along with an old money box in the old thatch that Omri manages to hide away for himself. Within the money box Omri finds four plastic figures come to life, does this mean the previous owner also had a magic key like Omri, a nice story for adults and children alike.

The plotting grows better through the series
The plotting grows better through the series. Another sub plot develops here, bringing Omri the realisation of the dangers the key opens his world and family to. An absorbing read for all ages. Thought provoking too.
