Small but sturdy
Kabar makes great knives .. I own the full size version and this one though smaller is great for hiking without too much added weight.

Great knife. Great sheath with multiple points of attachment and fastening options. Allows for quick release.
This knife with sheath is exactly what I was seeking. Smaller diameter of the handle so my not-very-big daughter can get a good grip on it. Very good Kabar standards for the blade. The sheath is pretty amazing. Other knife manufacturers would do well to copy it exactly. Why? First, the friction grip holds the knife in place well and makes for easy extraction. Second, as if that was not enough, they provide a snap closure on the top. Third, if that was not enough, they provide a third snap enclosure that crosses diagonally from the back to cross the lower part of the handle. So now you have three points of contact to secure the blade when bushwhacking through dense brush. But you can also release the extra snaps when walking in more open terrain for those occasions when you want a quick release. The kydex (sp?) sheath also provides numerous options for attaching to a belt or harness. Use the standard hang-from-your-belt option when you need it. But with the numerous holes placed on the edge of the sheath you can also attach the sheath to an H-harness or the shoulder strap of your backpack or fishing pack. The numerous points of attachment and fastening options make this the perfect knife to have on your person when moving about in the mountains alone when you might need quick access to your knife. Just a great product. Perfect for my daughter.

If you want a KA-BAR, and the large size won't fit in your EDC bag, get this one.
Let me start by saying I should get a discount if I have to sharpen it myself. The blade comes so dull that if I needed to defend myself with it out of the box, I'd have better luck bludgeoning someone to unconsciousness with the handle rather than using the blade at all. Speaking of the blade, it's beautiful. We all grew up hearing about how Ka-bar is the official knife of the Marines, so it's got the branding to prop up the price point. Is it worth the money? For me, it is. If you want a knife that'll sit in your pocket until you need to open a letter, rather than skin, get something else. I'd recommend keeping it in a bag instead of on your person, but you do what's most comfortable for you.Pros:It's the knife I always wantedIt's a confidence booster if you aren't carrying a gunSome find it soothing to sharpen a blade, and this one will certainly take a few hoursCons:It's dull, you'll need to set aside time to sharpen it before you can carry itSome might find it pricey if you aren't buying it for the KA-BAR brandingIt's not a pocket carry knife

Nice Compact Knife
Too small for a fighting knife but a great Trail knife despite its double guard. As for quality, I'm impressed: constant bevel, straight blade, comfortable handle, and a great sheath impervious to rain. Also a nice balance. Where can you get such a deal in terms of cost/ quality for a U.S.A. made knife today that has some history linked to it ? Thank you, KA-BAR!As for the handle size, yes I thought at first it was somewhat small but it grew on me. I then remembered that despite its military history and double quillion, I wanted to use it as a small trail /hunting knife. That brought me back into perspective. I can guarantee that you can gut out any North America animal with it and it will also serve as a useful hiking tool in the mountain/desert environment. I intend to use it in New Zealand next year on a two month hunt. I collect and use many knives but I wanted one that could stand up to the harsh environment of a temperate rain forest such as New Zealand, or the British Columbian Coast. Because of KA-BAR quality I just bought the larger version in black for a survival type knife in the bush. Cheers, Mates!

Its just perfect
Im in love with this knife, Very confortable for EDC, weight a little and it feels really solid, its sharp out of the box, not razor sharp but it will do the job.You can attach it to your belt and hide it in your pocket and no one will notice

Sturdy, no frills.
Bought this to carry in Afghanistan. It's a good, strong blade, the blade is thick enough it should hold a sharp (not razor sharp) edge for a good while. Mine wasn't super sharp out of the box, but I didn't buy it to use as a scalpel or to shave my face. Knives aren't meant to be abused, but this one can take some if you give it to it. Awesome grip on the handle, I like this better than the compressed leather disk style. Full tang blade so it won't break off at the handle. This isn't a fancy look-at-me knife with serrations and some wicked curvature that doesn't serve a purpose. The sheath is easy to attach to stuff, mine is zip-tied to my vest. The knife stays in the sheath just fine without buttoning either strap that come on it.
