I have had trouble keeping my fishpond (plastic base) clean and clear. I put 1 tablespoon full in every 3 days. And while it does keep down the frequency of cleaning and scrubbing algae off of the sides of the pond, the water doesn't stay clear. Overall, though, it works well enough.

Used according to directions, but not a lot of change in the water. Disappointed.

I wasn’t expecting a lot but boy was I ever surprised, I’m now a total believer in this product, I used it with an API pond clear product and within a couple of hours my small goldfish pond was totally clear. I have 11 aquariums so I’m pretty familiar with water maintenance and everything and with this being a new pond I knew it would have to go through the nitrogen cycle but while I was waiting for my pond plants to get established along with my elephant ears on the side, it was looking pretty funky. The pond receives a lot of sunshine so I was a little skeptical about anything working, but it did and I’m impressed with this product and will continue to use

I have been using in a 100 gallon patio fountain since reopening it four weeks ago as the weather began to warm up here in Ohio. So far it does seem to be working fine. The water is not perfectly clear but is accaptable. I am follwing the directions exactly as written on the bottle. It is still a little early in the year to determine if this product will prevent algae growth all summer long but so far so good. If it works this will be a rather inexpensive solution for fountain water maintenance.

We have a small pond (approx 300 gals) with several small goldfish, and were looking for something besides algaecides that would help clear up the water a little more so we could see the fish better. There's also some cold-hardy water lilies in the pond and 2 Pondmaster pump/filters.I tried barley bales with no luck and thought maybe the liquid would work better, but we didn't have any luck with this product either. I followed the instructions and used the whole bottle over a period of several months, but couldn't notice any difference in the water clarity at all. Usually, the water clears up some during the winter as the algae seems to die off from the coldness of the water, but besides that there wasn't any difference in clarity once the water warmed up in the spring/summer.I'm not saying that the product isn't effective, I'm just saying that it didn't work for us which is why I gave it 2 stars. I'm hesitant to use an algaecide because of the water plants and the depletion of oxygen that results and was truly hoping this would be a viable alternative.

My pond was like green soup. I tried algaecides, more filtration and more oxygen to no avail. Two doses of the barley extract and I could start to see the difference. Third dose and BAM- water was crystal clear. I’m happy- fish are happy.

I used this as directed in a clean pond - "clean" meaning, the pond was not murky, and thick, but still clear. It slowed the growth, but definitely did not eliminate it completely. I noticed that as it breaks down the algae, it forms residual particles that floated on the water surface, which looked just as horrible, if no worse than where I started. I used as directed in a shallow kiddie pond used for waterfowl. I switched to a different brand which seems to be working much better.

Worked great so I bought a gallon of a different brand. New brand isn't working so well. I suppose not all barley extract is created equal.

Barley straw has been used in ponds for years, to help repell algae. 5his concentrated source saved me so much time cleaning my pond. It did a great job. I ran out and was immediately growing algae again. I will continue to use it during the summer months because it lightened my work load considerably. I power wash the sides of my pond once a month. Without algae control, it green in a week. I definitely recommend it.... so many other products out there that don't. I'm stocking up for next summer!

I have a shallow pond with a riverstone spillway that gets a lot of sun.This product does an amazing job of keeping the algae growth controlled and the water clear. As a bonus, the pump filters need cleaning much less.It is a little on the expensive side, but the maintenance dosages are small and this one bottle will last me the season.Will definitely buy again.

this is the second year that I've been using this in my backyard pond. Totally clears up the algae and stops any new algae from growing. Hasn't harmed the fish or other wildlife at all. I have a 500 gallon pond and this lasted me the full season.

Absolutely first class. It has done exactly what it was expected to do - reduced the algae in our pond almost completely. By the time we reach the bottom of the bottle I fully expect the pond to be completely algae-free. I can highly recommend this product.

didn't find much change in having to dump troughs weekly even with the required 2 ounces suggested.
