Grounded
Prolific writers such as the Jacksons bring to their readers interesting, captivating and faith-filled fiction. The latest series set in Chicago, Illinois, is one that has many themes including romance, redemption, mystery, and listening for God’s voice. The main protagonist is a young woman, who is a Christian vocalist, named Grace Meredith. She has recently completed a tour. When she returns home, her voice is strained, sore and her heart is badly broken. The tour theme was putting forth the message of waiting until marriage for the gift of intimacy. However, Grace came back from the tour feeling like a complete hypocrite. Samantha is Grace’s assistant, but doesn’t know the deep secret of her friend. With an unknown future, Grace is struggling in her heart, mind and spirit. She is unsure if God even hears her prayers. When the weather turns dangerous, her new manager spends time getting to know her and encourages her to see a doctor and rest. Throughout the novel, other characters are introduced to the audience that gives the story greater depth. One of the male characters seems to be very self-centered, while another one has a heart for the Lord and Grace. There is a lot of tension in the heart and life of the various characters introduced in the book and looks to continue in the sequel, Derailed, that I will soon be reviewing. Dave and Neta share with people a message that needs to be told in a day of instant everything and the tendency to be unaware of our neighbors and what is occurring around us. Grounded shows the promise as the beginning of a wonderful series. Though fictional, it definitely reflects society in general. I grew up in the south suburbs of Chicago, so some of the landmarks and routes brought to mind memories of the area. However, even if one has not been to Chicago, the story will still be very exciting and enjoyable to read. Another point in the novel is that Christians who are broken, hurt and much more can find healing and hope in Christ. The beauty of the tale is how the Lord brings people into our lives who can be the vessels that touch our hearts and vice versa. The way some of the subject matter such as unwanted pregnancies and the choices made that affect many young women’s lives was very touching. In Grounded, there is laid before the reader how much God’s love and grace is shown toward us even when we feel we have nothing to give Him. Please read, then share this wonderful novel filled with hope with anyone God leads you to.

On the face of it, Grace Meredith seems to have it all going on.
She is an up and coming Country Christian music artist with a full calendar and lots of adoring fans. She is happily engaged to the love of her life, Roger. Her central message is about the “virtues of waiting till marriage for physical intimacy” (p.5). Her star is shining bright. Until it isn’t.On the last night of a weeks-long concert tour, Roger calls her to tell her he is breaking off their engagement. The next day, Grace has an unfortunate encounter with a TSA agent at the airport, and she begins to unravel from there. It will be a long way back for Grace. This is, in essence, a story of how God redeems each and every one of us in a unique way. For Grace, the beginning of her restoration comes in the form of a new family who buys the two-flat across the street. Enter Estelle Bentley, a woman after God’s own heart. It is hard to tell when Estelle is no longer talking to you and, instead, is beseeching God on your behalf. This woman knows how “get hold of the Throne of Grace”. And get hold of it she does.By the end of this book, Grace understands the power of “Taking everything to God in prayer” (Phil 4:6). She has learned how to pray for herself rather than calling her trusted assistant, her loving brother or her new agent. There is no true final chapter in this story. The authors leave us with an encouraging cliff hanger. This is the first book in a series of five

Different Take and focus from the other ones that I have read....
I chose this book because I have read or am reading all the books that had their beginnings in the Yada Yada series....Because this one was not really a "spin off" from the other series, with all the usual colorful characters (except Estelle, of course) it was really like reading a NEW book with no "history" behind it.However, it was refreshing to see both Harry and Estelle appear later in the book. I had a suspicion that Grace's secret was what it was: a teenage abortion. What so many people do not realize, is that It does not matter what age you are, what your marital status is, or even your spirituality (or lack thereof) ...post Abortion Syndrome is real...and the effects may not show up for years.....I congratulate the authors for so openly speaking about this "taboo" topic especially in the light of GODS MARVELOUS GRACE. I would recommend this book to anyone who feels (so incorrectly) that they are not "worthy" of God's grace....for whatever secrets they may be harboring.

Keeping in the style of the Yada Yada prayer group, Dave & Neta Jackson haven't disappointed! Grace Meredith, Christian singer, gets dumped by her fiance & needs to change the theme of her concert tour. She has buried secrets &meets new neighbors, the Bentleys, who help her.

More than just a story
I wouldn't be surprised if this book inspires a movie. From the first page, the authors were able to warmly invite the reader into the main character's world. There is something so "comfortable" and "easy" about the writing style and the way the story is told. What made the book most memorable for me, however, was that it told more than just a story, it shared an important message of God's grace, and gave me a better understanding of this precious gift. This is, indeed, more than just a story, it is a blessing.

typische Neta Jackson Geschichte

Wonderful Read
I thoroughly enjoyed this first book in Neta and Dave's new series. When you have read the whole Yada Yada series as I have it is nice to see some of the same characters continued in the new series. This is a book that would, I think, appeal to young adults as well as readers of a more mature age. The message of God's love is relayed in a very real way and I was blessed many times during the reading.
