Q: Will this work with the Alta Cargo Rack?

Most Teraflex stuff works together, I would call Teraflex to be sure.

The Teraflex hinge can be used with the stockcarrier. However, you may need to upgrade to the Teraflex carrier for larger tire sizes as it is adjustable to allow room for the tire to clear the bumper. I'm running 34's with the Teraflex hinge and stock carrier with no issues.

Q: what are the 9 threaded areas used for, that teraflex suggests you put a dust cap over ?

These are the spots that the bolts go into the tailgate. The dust covers just keeps them clean.

Check the Teraflex web site, use the model number shown in this Q & A. the 07 - 10 had one size tailgate, the 11 -16 have a slightly wider tailgate. If you have a '16 and the Pentastar 3.6, you have the wider tailgate. TeraFlex will have this carrier sized correctly for your tailgate. I have an '09, this hinged carrier is a monster. No OEM stock size tire will ever make it rattle. 100 lb plus tires, and some other attachments, maybe in a few years of 100% off paved road driving. If that is your life style you are either living on a cattle ranch in Calgary, Montana or North Dakota OR doing who knows what in South Africa. Either way you won't be driving a Jeep JK. Get the correct part number for a 2016, buy it, put it on your jeep and go look for the end of the payment every chance you get. Sit on top of your spare tire, grab a beverage of choice, watch the sun go down. On your way home figure out how many LED lights you need to make night driving more fun. Enjoy the ride and wave like a crazy person to your follow Jeepers. Life will change for the better. ;)
