You want to take your Sennheiser HD700s to the next level?
These are not just ordinary replacement pads, these are game changers. They are Uber comfortable, compliant and focus the energy of drivers in the headphones into your ears. They still are open back and have that open back sound, but it is more focused and you don’t lose the intimacy that the standard earcups did. Because the gel inside fits the head better and conforms to the variations of your head contours, your experience is improved greatly. The inner portion of these earcups channels the sound to your ears instead of losing it through the lack of compliance the originals suffer from. These things combine to make your headphone experience one of joyous bliss in my opinion. Since I have had original earcup replacements before, the change isn’t subtle or is it lacking, far from it! I will buy these again if they wear out as these are the best replacement upgrade earcups you can by for this headphone. Hesitation is a waste in your music enjoyment experience. You haven’t ordered them yet? What’s your holdup? Gitty up y’all and find true headphone nirvana with these game changing replacement upgrade earcups. They’re worth it!

very comfortable but tricky install
I know that the HD700 isn't Sennheiser's most popular model, but I've had mine for almost 5 years now after picking them up on sale and I personally enjoy them. I have several other options, including the HD6XX, AKG K7XX, and Oppo PM-3, but the HD700 tend to be my go-to, and the ones that hang out by my DAC/AMP rather than on a shelf behind me. Unfortunately, frequent use resulted in some not-unexpected wear-and-tear on the stock ear pads and headband, so I went looking for replacements. After some research I settled on these for the earcups, and overall I'm quite happy. They do increase the clamping force a bit (they're about ~1.5x as thick as stock pads) but I personally found this to be a good thing, because the it holds the headphones more securely in place to prevent them from sliding whenever I lean forward or backward. Staying in the proper position makes them even less noticeable on my head, so it's an overall win in the comfort department for me. I will also note that these do not seem to irritate my skin like my others had started to, but that was due to the dirty and degrading fabric, not to a design flaw in the original pads. Personally, I can't really say I notice a difference in the sound worth sharing, *maybe* a slight rolling-off of the very high end, but I don't want to swap back to the older pads to A/B test and be sure. Definitely no adverse affects on the sound that made me want the stock pads back. However, this does bring us to the one downside of these replacement pads... the installation *sucked*. I will admit to having noticed another review that pointed this out, but thinking to myself "I'm mechanically inclined, I've been building water-cooled computers for over a decade now, how bad can it be?" It turns out it can be pretty annoying. I didn't really notice any excess plastic from a sloppy mold that would be impeding anything as the other review mentioned, though I will note that the level of precision in the creation of the plastic frame is clearly far below that of the stock pads. From what I can tell it's just that lower precision that caused the issues. Rather than snapping cleanly into place with every clip perfectly aligned, they took quite some struggling and cursing before they decided to cooperate. I honestly can't even recommend a strategy to make things easier - what seemed to work for the first cup didn't for the second. All I can say is to focus on the "corners" of the D-Frame and that you may need to flex the plastic frame a bit to get it to seat into the ear cup. Eventually they did both click in place though, and *seem* to be seated securely. Be very careful of the fragile mesh on the outsides of the cup... I managed to slightly dent one of the mesh panels on mine, but was able to gently smooth it back out from the inside without having to remove the pads. I'm definitely not eager to try that again though, so hopefully these will last another 5+ years. I'm thinking they will though, because I finally gave in and ordered the HD800S today, so chances are these start to see a little less head time.

Great improvement to the HD700 experience, frustrating to install
Overall: 4 starsComfort / Thickness: 5 starsI'm far from an audiophile, so I cannot speculate with buzzwords regarding changes to the "quality" of the audio. My only comment is that while the acoustics are slightly *different*, I don't notice any reduction in quality of the HD700's already fantastic sound. These make for a clear plus to the experience of the HD700. I always felt that the HD700 felt a bit loose on your head compared to the lower-end HD599 and HD 598 series. These pads maintain the same comfortable feel of the Sennheiser pads, but the added thickness makes them just that much more snug on the head, which I much prefer.Installation: 3 starsI almost gave up and returned the product because it took me a solid 20-30 minutes to get these installed. The plastic seemed to have a fairly amount of left over fragments on the edges from the moulding process that I had to remove. I don't know if this was just an isolated defect with the particular pair that I received, or if it signals a much larger production issue.I found that I had to put significant inward squeezing pressure as well as hand gymnastics to get them to snap into the HD700 headset. The stock Sennheiser pads immediately click in, whereas these take a good amount of pressure around the entire rim to get them in. To me if feels like the overall dimensions of the pads are a few microns too large and could be accounted for by the left over artifacts I found from the moulding process.Once they get in, I feel like they'll stay in just fine. But I'm not looking forward to having to take them off and reattach to clean the headset cups every now and then.

Very Comfortable but terrible install
I received the hybrid pads and I will say they are extrembly comfortable. I'd give these a 5 out of 5 if it wasn't for the impossible installation. I ended up using the clips that were already part of my HD 700s and they worked well enough attaching the replacement pads. There is no reason for these to have their own clips when they could have just modifed the pads to fit into what's already there. The molding also looks very rough and when I tried following the instructions initally it was not an even fit. All in all the pads are great but the installation is terrible.

3/5 for me. I'll keep mine, but wouldn't particularly recommend.
Hello! I'll briefly describe my almost 2 weeks experience with the new dekoni ear pads.Sound - I can easily tell the difference between 2 pair of headphones, but I'm not an expert, so don't expect me to say the bass rolls of at 38hz with 3+db deviation at 1430hz and things like that :D When it comes to sound, these change the Frequency Response so much, you might hate it. It's different, not better, not worse. DIFFERENT. You can check the frequency response graph they provide, I think it's quite accurate. Because the pads are double in thickness, they don't sound so OPEN anymore, I'm not sure about soundstange or imaging.Comfort - the second you put them on, there is a different feeling, but same comfort. There is a new clamp you need to get used to, comfortable, but in 3 days they soften so no issues here. Thus, after 3-4 days of constant use, I rate them at 8/10 comfort where the originals I'd say they are at 7/10 and I have to say, originals are JUST enough for long hours of listening. ALSO VERY IMPORTANT, the inner GAP is smaller than the original, so that may create some discomfort. For reference, a 10 for me is the XL sheepskin pads for akg series, but a 7 or 8 is just as comfy.Miscellaneous - see picture, is just how velour works, you get hairy bits after a week, if that's a dealbreaker, then you should know this.Price - compared to the originals, they're not extremly overpriced, but definitely more than they need to be for what they have to offer, AGAIN, subjectively.Customer service- Great, quite happy with it, I almost returned them because I couldn't mount them, it was my fault in the end, but the guy on facebook helped me a lot, there is a tutorial uploaded now, so check that out.The reason I give it a 3/5 is because it's a bit pricey for what you get, it sounds less open and it's not hd700 sound anymore. I think I have included everything, if not, please don't hesitate to ask questions.
