Mute Wear-resistant Outher Diameter 2 Inch Luggage Suitcase Replacement Wheel Kit (2" × 0.67")

This was for repair of an excellent carry-on bag which was barely 3 years old but whose casters were really bad. The supplied pieces in the kit allowed me to completely replace all four casters, using supplied washers to accommodate the needed spacing in the axle line.

I was given a suitcase with a bad wheel. It would have been a shame to toss an otherwise good case, so I measured the wheel diameter and settled on this.The general description for my use is;The wheel is part of an assembly that is a combination of the edge guard and the piece that holds the actual wheel. 4 screws from inside of the case removed the hold thing. Two small bolts and the wheel assembly separated from the guard.A small screwdriver was used to pry the trim pieces covering the wheel axle off.The axle did not have bolts, it was held in place with a flattened metal end. A moment with a drill bit separated the flattened metal metal from the axle (breaking the seam where the flat end folded over). Then a small bolt roughly the same size as the axle was used along with a hammer to tap the old axle out.The new wheel is slipped in replacing the old. The kit includes 4 flat washers that I couldn't find a use for, the new wheel has a metal center that protrudes enough to keep the wheel from rubbing. The new axle slips in from one side and a threaded piece from the other side holds it in place. The kit includes two small hex head allen wrenches to tighten axle into place. Attach the wheel assembly back to the guard, put the full assembly back in place and screw it down to the case (from the inside).The only draw back is the new axle bolts ends are larger than previously which interferes with he trim pieces covering the axle. On was OK, but I'm good with functional.It's not at all a big or hard job, like everything else the first one always takes a few minutes longer.The only reason for not giving it 5 stars is I can't speak to durability. The plastic wheel does not track perfectly side to side as it rolls, so no using these on a skateboard but it still works a lot better than a frozen wheel on a suitcase.

Bought a pair to replace the worn out wheels of a laptop bag. Not sure how long these will last but when new the wheels are very smooth rolling and quiet. It took me more time to disassemble the original wheels and support (30 min) than to put the wheels on (10 mins). Used a power drill to take out the original rivets. And replaced the rivets with small screws and nuts.

Instead of paying $50 for a new bag. I bought this set and an $8 hacksaw.

If luggage companies would get their stuff together, we wouldn’t have to hunt high and low for new wheels!
