Pillivuyt Porcelain 10-by-6-1/4-Inch Oval-Eared Dish

I 1st bought 2 of this size & several smaller ones more than 30 years ago in a kitchen store in Essex Junction, Vt. Have loved them ever since. Our family vacationed in Vermont every year. When I went back the next year to buy more the store had gone out of business. These dishes, although a little pricey are great quality, go in oven, dishwasher, table. Look pretty for serving in, and last virtually a lifetime. I would highly recommend them. When I saw them on Amazon, I just had to buy more.

Even though the beautiful French porcelain dish itself is perfection, Amazon packaged my 2 dishes as though they were plastic dishes! They separated the dishes by a thin layer of plastic and then carelessly dumped inside a big box with a bunch of plastic that allowed the dishes to touch in transit. When I picked up the box, I heard dishes hitting each other, I thought for sure everything inside is broken. Miraculously there was no immediate damage, but likely the life of the dishes has been negatively affected by extremely poor packaging.

This dish is elegant and rather delicate looking. But it is well made and I know it will last. The simple lines and white color put the focus on your food and inspire you to take time to make it look really good. I think this is my favorite dish. It seems smaller than I imagined but it's perfect for just the 2 of us and would probably be good for a side dish for 4.

I ordered several baking dishes to coordinate with new dishes that I purchased. I wanted something that was both durable and visually pleasing - and I found both in these!!Sizing is perfect for the purpose intended and it looks great on the table.

If I were rich, I would own a couple dozen of these in various sizes. The only drawback is that you can smash them if you're a butterfingers like me. You may as well order the 10x6 size [pictured below] unless you're on a diet :) or want the dinky ones for individual servings of courses at your next dinner party. I will buy Pillivuyt until the day I die or I go broke, whichever comes first.Caption for food picture: My trademark "lazy bachelor's 5 minutes of prep" meal. It's a good dish, but I also bought the Fox Run at the same time for significantly less, yet just as functional. I guess being made in France, they need the extra money to pay for their deficit.

I have owned one of these dishes for 10 years with no problems. After a single use I found a hairline crack in the one I have just purchased at a cost of £39.03. I should have noticed that it was shipped from USA in which case it is expensive to return. Subsequently I saw the same item for sale for £19 at Borough Kitchen.com which is a UK company. Should have done my research more diligently!
