KINGPHM-1 Portable Milkhouse Heater, 1500W / 120V

Got this for my garage for wintertime smokers. I have also used it in my office on really cold days for that extra bit of warmth to keep my fingers toasty warm while typing. It does a much better job indoors than in the garage - in the garage, you can't really even tell that there is heat coming out of it! You could stand right in front, and you would barely be able to feel the heat. It keeps you warm enough sitting a few feet away. But if you want to warm up frozen fingers, forget about it. It also does not have any sort of timed shut off, only the tip-over one. So if some idiot leaves it on in your garage and no one notices until 8 hours later...well that'll be a few extra bucks on the heating bill!

Was mildly dented in a couple places when arrived, but just cosmetic. Had trouble with it blowing my fuse on the highest power setting, so now I used the one down - fuse was designed to handle 2000 W and this was 1500, so not sure why. I have it out in my greenhouse with a wifi temperature monitor and have observed it keeps the green house (6'x8') at steady temperature. Have to play with the temperature setting knob a little to figure out where you want it set - it's not 'calibrated' to any standard, but after a few hours of monitoring and resetting was able to find where to set it for the temperature I wanted.

This heater has great quality for the price. Other then the price its quite and puts out heat well as intended. Now compared to name brand competitors it does not blow enough heat volume wise but that also makes it quite so if your looking for something with less noise its perfect. In my opinion i would upgrade the fan speed and it would be a great heater for the money. Noise does not disrupt me but if you have a young child and want to take a little chill off the room it will not wake them up.

3 Stars because "It's okay."Nice powder coat finish...sturdy...control knobs are firm...overall, well made.Handles are a bit thin but adequate.HOWEVER, this "heater" is barely a heater at all.I got this for my garage, hoping to just knock the chill out of the air while I wood-work in the winter BUT, I can't even really warm my hands by this thing DIRECTLY in front of it.PLUS, the power draw from this thing...HOLY COW! I have run a tablesaw, air-compressor, AND a heat gun ALL at the same time before with no problems BUT, with this thing running, just using the tablesaw while it's running kicks my 20 amp breaker. The heat gun warms my garage better than this thing...and WITHOUT kicking the breaker.IDEAL USE FOR THIS: In my opinion, the best application for this heater would be a SMALL, already partially heated, enclosed and insulated area. Like as a "supplemental" heat source. Or for use where it's only cold to women, small children, and frail old people.I think this heater has fallen victim to a "far too safe" sociological mind-set. If they made a "burn the baby if he gets too close" hot version of this, that would not cost as much as heating my entire house to run, I would get that.

This heater has more settings than discussed in the product review. There are two BTU settings (1300 and 1500) so more heat can be generated from the higher setting. . I consider that an energy saving feature for those times when less heat is needed. It provided generous heat to my living area which is fairly large (16 x 21). It would be greater if this company added an oscillator to a fan like this.

Set it and forget it. This heater has old fashioned analog controls so if the power fails, when it comes back on the heater goes right back to work unlike all these cutesy digital things that reset if the power fails. I have 4 of these heaters and they just keep on working. The one thing I wish they did offer was a 750W setting like some of the older models I have similar to this.

I got this little analog heater for it's dependability. If the electricity goes out, the heater should come back on when electricity does. We were using a digital heater that didn't come back on, and the pipes froze up. It heats the bathroom area quite well so we are pleased and so far, we haven't had a power surge but confident it will come back on.

Great heater and works well, especially for under $16.I noticed it made a little bit of noise so I took it apart and snugged the fan blade further onto the motor which resolved it. Minus one star for that but otherwise, it works well and as expected.It seems well made and I get the feeling it will provide years of good service.

I grew up using these space heaters. I was so glad they still make Milkhouse Heaters like this. I am very happy with this one. The gunmetal color is a nice industrial touch. Its auto sensors are great, so it turns off when it reaches the warm you have set it at. Also the tip-over feature is a must-have with risky appliances like this. Solid build, nice design, great heater!

Sturdy but I'm not impressed. Had it on my boat this winter. It doesn't heat enough. No where near enough !!! For what it costs to run. I won't recommend it to anybody. Amazon have much better heaters for less too ! It never ever gets hot on the element to glow. The fan barely moves air.

The element of the heater got burnt the first day I used it

Lasted about two weeks, it tipped over once, then stopped working. Put it off to the side until I had a chance to look at it. Found the bump must have been to much for the fan motor as it's the part that failed.

Works excellent, sturdy metal classic design. Plenty of settings and arrived before allotted time, very pleased.
