Awesome boots. Have worn thorogood boots as a carpenter for years and wanted a winter boot that I can work outdoors in Michigan winters. These boots fit the bill to a tee. Just size up 1/2 to 1 size larger to accommodate thicker socks. I guess if I gave up on carpentry These would work exploring Alaska. Super Warm. Good traction on snow and ice. Easy to lace up. What more can you ask for In a boot.

Nice fit.
Love the boot great fit plenty wide. I wear a 10 wide bought a 10 1/2 wide fit great. Very warm built strong. They are a big boot made for sitting not for walking very far. I always have a problem finding insulated boots that are wide enough but these fit perfect with a heavy wool sock. Only problem is a month in a half after I gave 254 dollars for them they went on sale for 152 dollars! Just my luck.

Toasty Toes!
Dear Mike, the Thorogoods you sent me were absolutely fantastic! Finding a warm, dry, AND well-fitting winter boot for my size 13 EE feet has been next to impossible. I have a pair of Lowa boots that you know I paid big bucks for and while they're great for 3-season hunts, they lack the warmth and traction in snow that my late-season winter hunting in Maine requires. With the Thorogoods... problem solved. Took them to task this week on the Western Mountains of Maine where we had 18 inches of snow fall from 2 storms, and saw temps drop to 5 degrees (F) on the day in between. The Boots fit great - my high ("fat") instep makes wearing pull-on rubber boots impossible - so having the lock-in and speed-lace setup makes slipping in and out of the Thorogoods easy while still being able to cinch down the boot to keep my foot from sliding around inside. I'm a "still/stalking hunter", so I spend 8 hours on my feet going over all kinds of terrain. At 6'4", 280lbs, I put alot of stress on my footgear, and these boots handled great - climbing up and down waste-deep snow-covered hillsides, stepping and gripping the timber left on old logging roads, fully submerged in icy cold streams, and never even thought about putting a "hand-warmer" packet in the boot. Also wanted to point out that while some reviews complain about the hefty gerth of the boot, I didn't have any issues being able to easily and safely operate gas and brake pedals of my Tahoe. They're certainly wide but not at all heavy and the 12" height provides great ankle support, while the tread lugs create great grip on steep uphill climbs/downhill descents, snowy rocks, hidden logs, etc. Finally, a great boot that I can rely on to keep my toes nice and toasty all winter long. Had I bagged an 8-pointer, I'd have given them a perfect 5-star rating; downed a coyote instead, so have to settle for 4-stars. :)

Good Boots, but stiff
Bought this product to take with me on a Kansas/Colorado hunting trip. But because the weather was pretty warm for most of the trip - between 35 and 55 - I ended up not wearing them during the trip (wore a different pair of boots). But, I did wear them for my home state of New York hunting since the weather was rather cold - several days in the 20's and one morning in the single digits. My feet get cold VERY easy, so I was hoping these would keep my feet warm for the whole time I sat in my hunting chair. Although they did not keep my feet 100% warm, they performed significantly better than my 800 gram thinsulate boots I purchased from a chain store. I can attest these ARE waterproof; I walked through a small stream that was a little lower than ankle deep with no water getting into the boots. The traction is exceptional. But the boots ARE bulky and stiff - they have finally started to break in a little with use (worn about a dozen times total).I really like the fit, since my feet have "spread" as I have gotten older and I now wear wide shoes. My other lighter boots are a 14 regular and have become tight on my feet with any kind of heavy socks; this boot by comparison fits perfectly with a base layer sock and a super heavy weight merino wool sock since it is a 14 wide. If you are unsure, and you plan on wearing very thick heavyweight socks, it might be advantageous to get the wide boot so they are not tight around the front half of your foot.If you are not easily prone to cold feet, you should easily stay warm in these boots. For reference, my feet get extremely cold without shoes on (just socks) in my house that I keep at around 72 degrees. If you walk a lot, prepare to sweat in these; they really are too warm if temps are above zero and walking. I have not had any opportunity to use these in below zero weather because it rarely gets that cold in New York during hunting season, and that was my primary purpose for buying these. I cannot speak to longevity since I have only had them for a few months and only use them for hunting, so they might only be used a dozen times a year at most. But I really like them for fit and warmth.
