Boomerang CycloTrac GPS Tracker

GPS shows my unit (in my apartment at this time) is located in an Amazon warehouse in Phoenix! Multiple email inquiries to manufacturer have gone unanswered. Lost $199 and very frustrated. However, Kevin contacted me on multiple occasions to offer advice and help, and that is very much appreciated. I received a replacement model recently and it works well! My only problem is that the device doesn't attach using the two water bottle screws as designed. Can only use one screw so it is not well secured in place and must be tightened frequently. Kevin tells me that the newer model coming in April will be smaller and more compact. I'm very excited to try that out!!

I have it mounted where its easy to see, just a little jingle of the bike and it beeps and lets you know something is going on. stand by battery is good, only needs charging about ounce a week.

Received this two days ago. It wakes up. It beeps if I press the button. But that’s it. Shows that my bike is in another state. Can’t activate the alarm function. Reset does nothing. It is a waste of money and hours of troubleshooting.UPDATE: Company founder emailed me directly and concluded the unit is in fact defective. He is sending out a new unit tomorrow.Will update review once I get a working unit.UPDATE: Got a new unit and this one activated right away just like it’s supposed to work. Took it out for a test ride today. NO TRACKING. It shows one trip in Santa Clara from 6 days ago... I live hundreds of miles south. Beginning to lose my confidence. Oh, and they want me to send back the original defective unit at my cost... I am not kidding. They sent me a defective unit and expect me to pay to ship it back.Update: The owner/developer continued to work with me and resolved all my issues. I attribute my original issues to being an early adopter, but the the developer continued to contact me directly to ensure I got a unit that worked and that I was satisfied. I’ve never had such dedicated one to one response directly from the developer. I am so satisfied with the developer and his product that I have put in an order for his next gen product.

I bought this in early Jan 2017, direct from the company, so it will not show here as a "verified" purchase. I bought it to protect a several thousand dollar e-bike, a Trek XM 700+ which was modified considerably, adding another $1500 to the cost.The company has impressed me considerably with rapid response to my questions. Some answers have come even after the presumed business hours.The device does give out a signal if moved, but it is not so loud as to be obnoxious, like car alarms that are routinely ignored anyway. Unfortunately, if someone bangs into your bike while parking their bike or the wind knocks it about, it will text you that someone is messing with the bike. These false positives could perhaps be fixed if it required a certain amount of movement or a certain number of times before sending the signal. It could beep whenever moved to deter thieves, but not notify you until after the 2nd or 3rd movement. Few thieves can get a locked bike free without moving it more than once.There are some minor confusions in learning how to use the phone app but the company indicates awareness of these and are addressing them immediately.The "find my bike" option is really nice is a situation where the bike is stolen. You know where it is and can alert authorities to go with you to get it. The trip information stats are nice, but my GPS is still preferable.

The app that controls this device is very bad and incredibly not secure. There is no obvious way to change your password and so anyone with a last name (username) and phone number (password) can disable your alarm. However, because the app is so bad, even if you disable the alarm it will still go off. The text on the app that supposedly shows metrics is cut off so you can’t read anything. It just shows first and last letters. The battery life, status of alarm and location on the map is usually incorrect. They haven’t updated the app in 9 months. Forget about version 2, the hardware is useless without a decent functioning app. DO NOT BUY.

I purchased one of these units about a year ago. What this thing does for you is to give you confidence. I know where my bike is because I can look it up using my Android phone. If someone jostles the bike in the bike rack at work, I know about it because I get alerts. The alarm is not hugely impressive, but it does tell someone who is messing with my bike that it might be a better idea if they go mess with someone else's bike. Typically, I will do Saturday rides without a lock and while I try to keep a very close eye on the bike, should someone just snatch it, I can tell the Cops exactly where it is at any given moment. I tried to find anything else that was comparable when I bought the unit and there was nothing but junk from China with near zero instructions or this unit. Everything else seemed to be made for motorcycles.I would highly recommend the unit.

I bought this to protect my new FLX bike. It is a terrific device - I almost wish someone would try stealing the bike so that they get a nice surprise. It is held in place with screws that have nonstandard heads (not slot or phillips head) which makes it difficult for a thief to easily remove it. The app has a lot of great features as well. If you have a relatively expensive bike you really need this device!

It’s already saved me one bike. I looked for a better solution then just locks after the thrift of 2 bikes. Locks only slow them down. The Boomerangbike gives off a load alert if your bike is moved. In most cases this is enough to scare them off. If the do take the bike you can track it down. It’s easy to install and active.It also has much better batter life them most other options. This device give me piece of mind. As an added bonus, it tracks your rides.I’ve combined mine with a wyze camera. When the Boomerangbike triggers, the audible alarm turns on the camera. I was able to get some photos of the last thief that I turned over to the police.Get this device. You’ll love the security.
