Completed in the spring of 1918, Socrate is a typical eccentric piece from avant-garde pioneer Erik Satie. Written in three movements for voice (four sopranos) and small orchestra (or piano), the text is extracted from three Platonic dialogues and depicts the last days of the Greek philosopher Socrates, condemned to death for corrupting the young men of Athens. 21 tracks. 2006.

This is the first CD of a record I had in the mid-60s & have long since lost (given away?)So good to hear it again& the other tracks are a joy as wellAnyone interested in Satit can not go wrong with this

Finally re-released!
This is wonderful, minimalist, cool and exquisite music. And this is the only digital recording. Beautiful performance.I bought the Factory Classics original ten years ago and I am really glad Ltm has reissued it...making copies for friends who "had to have it" was getting too much.
