This is the perfect part-2 to Larry Brook's Story Engineering
Instead of focusing on the different acts (which are pretty big swatches of the story), Paul breaks them down by sequence (1-2 = act 1; 3-6 = act 2; 7-8 = act 3). He defines the purpose of each sequence, provides tons of examples and illustrations, and completely set me up to write my first novel. So, so good.

Great for serious writers
This book shows you what publishers expect especially in genres. You can argue that it takes the fun out of writing, but publishers aren’t interested in your entertainment. They worry about selling books. Read this book. It will help.
