RSS210HF-4 8" Reference Series HF Subwoofer 4 Ohm

I bought 4 of these to put in the back of my theater room which is 16x24. I needed just speakers because I was eliminating all free standing speakers and these are built into a custom subwoofer wall behind the seating space. I tuned the enclosures to 27hz and was hoping these would be as good as the 2 10” powered units they replaced but I wasn’t expecting the big upgrade in sound quality. These speakers really deliver superb sound quality for both music and movies with concise thumping for music and low earthquake rumbling for movies. I just bought 2 more to extend my sound system to play music in my gaming area. Really impressed with the monster sound of these speakers.

I built two sealed 0.75 cubic foot boxes for these and use them in stereo to go with my existing monitors. They give me great extension in the low frequenices where my monitors rolled off. I absolutely love the way they sound. The subs in my box roll off steeply somewhere around 33 hz. They are not the most sensitive speakers, I'm using a crown XLI1500 because that's what I have, but an 800 would work fine. I used a miniDSP 2X4 HD to integrate these subs with my monitors. I relied on REW and a calibrated microphone to take room acoustic measurements and optimize the crossover point (settled on 90hz) and match levels given the different sensitivities of my monitors and these subs. You could crossover much higher depending on what you're integrating with. I also used REW and the mic to do room equalization, this is the MOST IMPORTANT STEP to getting good results. The room equalization makes all the difference in sound quality especially for below 300hz. Something like DiracLive would be even better. My 2 cents...

I slapped this in a Definitive Technology Prosub 600. Perfect fit. Serious improvement over the stock woofer. Woofer seems pretty heavy duty. No more bad sounds during deep bass. I'm happy. :) I set it up one DT600 with the Bash 300s amp, and I set up another DT600 with the stock amp. The stock amp runs the Dayton woofer just fine. It's not maxed out or anything.

Used these as replacements in my E36 M3 JL Audio Stealth Box. They fit well (I had to drill new mounting holes) and sound fantastic all for a very fair price.

This subwoofer is made from very high quality material. The bass is tight and very accurate. I'm very satisfied with this.

Using the sub in a 0.75 cf sealed box to add foundation to my French stand mounted speakers. Love my speakers, but they need help in the low bass, and this sub seems ideal. Had been using the cheaper dayton 8" in a slightly smaller box, and it is an excellent woofer, but this sub extends lower in freq. and has more output down there. Matching a sub to quality speakers can be frustrating, and this is the 5th or 6th sub have used with the Triangle Comete speakers. Problem has been finding a sub quick enought to blend with the Triangles, which are Very fast. Both this driver and the cheaper dual v.c. 8" are able to match the speed of the speakers, but this HF4 provides more solid foundation under the Cometes......very satisfied with this high quality product.
