China Mountainboy can't drill a proper hole and instructs/expects me to take care of their problems for them.
Box was smashed and packing tape on the box was so old that it had lost its adhesive and was falling apart. This was the mfg box. Very poor quality sled as well. Defects in wood (chips), wood stain and lacquer was worn off in areas, and assembly problems due to the screw holes on the sled not properly measured to fit the handle's screw holes. Thank you, China Mountainboy for crediting me as a skilled wood worker who can repair China's shoddy crap. I cannot believe a screwdriver was included (when a drill is required), with instructions on how to take care of their problem and solve it for them. What a crying shame that another potentially high quality product has died in China. I returned one, but I am going to ask a friend who restores guitars if he can screw me right on the other sled. If not, I will keep it for a bon fire bench, but it will probably split in two when I put my 130# on it. It may hold up as a porch decoration, but I'm not counting on it.LLBean is the only place I could find another better quality wooden flyer sled, made in Canada, to replace it. She's not as pretty, but, as we all know, pretty can be a deceptively high maintenance nightmare. I prefer high quality instead of phony, slick appearances that don't last long.

Fit and finish lacking...
I was fortunate enough to get this for a wicked low price last winter and I saved it for "Santa" to give to my daughter for Christmas.First, the good: 1) the classic styling looks great; 2) the sled runs pretty well on packed powder, and even better on well-packed crust; and 3) the sled feels solid.Alas, the bad: 1) the steering rail (the only piece which requires assembly) is secured to the frame by three screws, but the pre-drilled were not properly aligned, requiring re-drilling; 2) the rope in the rail is a festive red, but it is comprised of cotton braid which started fraying immediately; and 3) the sled's weight makes it a chore for younger kids to haul back up the hill after each run.In sum, it looks great and runs well for older kids, but given the issues with the assembly I have concerns about the long term durability of the sled.

Very Nice Sled - Good Deal at Amazon
Order from Amazon because of a big snow storm coming, which is rare in my area. Two day shipping with prime. Was here before snow hit. Opened the sled up after we actually got the snow on the ground. Was quick to assemble with 3 Stainless Screws to screw on the steering bar. They even give you a wood handle screwdriver, which I think is a nice touch! The sled looks fantastic. It really does look handmade; like something you would make in your own garage if you were so inclined. Tried it out and it is a really nice handling sled, in my opinion. I did not one issue with it. My sled, where the front of the runners are attached to a metal bracket right under the pivoting head, the right side is sitting about 1/2 inch away and the left is closer. So if you are holding the sled where the "foot end" is on the ground and the steering bar is up by your chest and you look down the bottom length of the sled, the right side sits further away than the left, AND that runner is a little crooked where it screws onto the bracket. In addition, this front end of the right runner appears to have some welding slag or something on it. There is a sharp hung of metal on the runner that would REALLY cut you if it were to run over a foot or hand. This metal is powdercoated over as well. I may call MountainBoy and send them a picture and see what they think. If this were another brand of sled, I might just ignore it, but I'll give the manufacturer a chance to let me know if it is right or not, and if not, give them the opportunity to fix it. I gave it 4 stars instead of five because of this defect. The finish on the sled is really, really excellent, however. The willow handles are a really nice touch, as expected. It gives the sled real character. Now, I sorta wish that I had gotten the Ultimate Flyer...I was debating back and forth, but decided on the classic because I want it to last and I read some about the plastic cracking on the Ultimate models, and just didn't want to mess with that. This model is better than the flexible flyers that ONE lucky kid would have on my street when it snowed when I was little, so I really wanted to get that classic metal runner type sled that would last. Maybe next year I'll get an Ultimate Flyer if it snows again. For the Amazon price on this metal runner sled, you really can't go wrong, especially considering a regular flexible flyer (non MountainBoy version) is $75 on here and $99 in a hardware store!! The original price of the MountainBoy Classic is actually HIGHER than the price of the Ultimate, and the fact that it is like half price on Amazon just screams "THIS IS A DEAL" - so I say, get this classic flyer if you want the metal runner type sled that you never seemed to be able to talk your parents into buying when you were a kid!

Mountain Boy Classic Flyer
After seeing how cheaply the typical newer rail sleds are made I knew I needed to find a better sled. When I saw and read about the Mountain Boy Sledworks Classic Flyer I ordered one for each of my three children. We've had them now for three years and have found them to be well made and they work great. They are also the talk of sledding hills we go to. Everyone thinks they are really neat sleds and want to try them out. They do cost a little more but I think you get what you pay for in this case. I would definitely recommend these sleds.

beautiful craftsmanship
First, let me state that we have not yet taken this out on the snow - so I can't review the functionality. With that said, the sled is incredibly beautiful & very well put together. It is classic in its design and you can clearly tell that it was built with high quality parts. It feels very sturdy & solid, yet light enough to be a relatively easy haul back up the hill. We were so impressed that we actually bought a second sled as a gift. We can't wait to get this out on the snow - and we expect this to be a long lasting family heirloom.

Quality may vary...
I got this as a gift on Christmas. It comes mostly assembled, with only the crossbar in front requiring 3 screws to be inserted and tightened. Well, the holes drilled in the cross-member did not match the tapped holes in the sled. Not even close. I had to re-drill a hole for one of the three screws for things to fit together. Pretty disappointing. The sled itself? I'd say it looks great and works as one would imagine. It does have a nice look to it.

Best Deal of the Year
This is high quality and for the price they had it at for a few hours is the best deal I have found this year, under 35 buck, are you kidding me. My girls will rule the hill next year for sure.
