Im a beginner when it comes to tooling leather. But I can tell you the kit has what I needed to start tooling. The concept of tooling is not that hard to figure out. I have done a holster and a knife sheath. They turned out pretty good. The kit itself came with all the main tools you need. And for the price I doubt you can beet it anywhere. Especially if you are finding things at hobby lobby and other stores that carry them. The needles are good, thread good, the main carving tool cuts nicely and works good. The only missing tool is a mallet of some sort for the stamping tools. For the price I would definitely recommend. Just what I found helpful is to make sure the leather is completely soaked through with water before you transfer the template and start to tool. I used a sponge to accomplish this, just put the wet sponge on the tooling side and waited for the back side to soak through and become completely wet. Play around with it it's not that hard to do.

Tools are not very sharp…

For the price, I expected a much smaller package, but this is huge! The scissors are cheap, but the rest worked perfectly. Loved the variety and grateful the sharp items were given extra covering when opening. Cuts were easy and clean even on a curvy project. Super easy to use. Exactly what I needed to help try my hand at molding a leather headpiece. I did use an exact knife for the more detailed cuts.
