It appears to be real
I got this for a great price and it appears to be the genuine article. I've owned one before this and this one looks and feels like that, though the serial number is laser engraved and I didn't know ST Dupont did that. Apparently they do, though. The box is right, the cards and papers are right, the weight is right, it has a light cling (muted somewhat by silver plating, which appears to be present), and everything feels high quality and genuine. ST Dupont told me they don't have the ability to verify serial numbers so I guess that's all I have to go on--and the fact that it's sold BY AMAZON and not a third party.

No explanation for the type of gaz to use, no technical support from the seller. Absolutely useless

Nice lighter
I purchased this lighter as a gift to myself, I was upset to learn you have to purchase st dupont butane or either an after market sprout kit, so I had to wait for couple extra days to use the lighter. Unless you are well off it’s not an everyday lighter.

Pleasant little weight to hold in your palm, ST-Dupont, quite a name for a piece of art to pass on my next generation, now let's review it.The "ping" sound, nope! this one is very dull and short, not resonant like others ST-Dupont don't expect it "clinnnng".The brand mark and s/n are hand stamped, characteristic always for a St-Dupont.Cigar lighter, nope, don't expect to light a cigar with this lighter, it fact it will become a "fan shape flame" when set to full flame, and that is it, not a strong jet light.The flint compartment is very tight to close with finger, follow up the manual to close it with a slider (not included), the vendor has a very helpful suggestion: slide to close it with a piece of wood.Conclusion, I love this lighter and will buy another one "Le Grand St-Dupont" that has a jet flame for cigar. The delivery is very fast, 2 days, after check out.I bought it from ElegantLighters.com seller and paid with my amazon account.
