The instructions and UI are not the most intuitive, so you do have to sort some things out: 1) there is a TCP Server working mode that I had not fully gleaned from the online manual, and that then related fields for TCP Client that get disabled while other important fields get enabled. In addition, TCP Server mode so that clients like HomeAssistant can connect to it using TCP; which the manual documents as the robust/reliable method of maintaining a connection with minimal risk of data packet loss (vs UDP). 2) After selecting the server mode then the Local Port Number field is visible and enabled but defaulted to 0 (zero)! The manual states that a port Value of 0 (zero) means that it will use a random port number, so you need to set a specific port value here where I used 4328 (the reversed characters of 8324; the default port for TCP Client Mode). 3) After assigning a specific port number in the Local Port Number with TCP Server working mode and then using the USR-TCP-Test software (downloaded from their support site), I was able to finally connect successfully, and validate the data streaming from the Hayward Pool Controller using my Windows PC as a TCP Client to test. After that, the configuration in HomeAssistant was a breeze and I had full control over the main features of my Hayward Pool controller for any automation I can think of... but the best one is asking "Alexa, turn on the pool fountain" (which just runs off the pump), to which she responds "Ok, the Pool Fountain is soo pretty.... enjoy!" Review: Needs better documentation - Finally got this setup, but could have saved a lot of time if it came with decent instructions. Will see how it performs over time. Intimate build quality seems very good

Needs better documentation
Finally got this setup, but could have saved a lot of time if it came with decent instructions. Will see how it performs over time. Intimate build quality seems very good

Great ethernet to serial converter.
Unit works perfectly, easy to configure if you're familiar with how tcp and serial devices work. Unit has no issues with breaking/restablishing connection when power cycled, ethernet disconnect/reconnect or tcp socket disconnect by the server unlike other ethernet to serial devices I've used oreviously. Documentation could be better, but the webgui of the device is easy to figure out.
