Caught longnose hawkfish in under 5 minutes
While not perfect, this trap helped me catch the targeted fish in under 5 minutes.Cons:As with any new acrylic product, removing the protective film is the most challenging partIn my case the suction cup did not work for more that a few minutes. (I ended up removing the suction cup and using magnets)The trigger can be quite challenging to setNo instructionsPros:Super simple, fast and secure assembly. It literally was assembled in 2 minutes using the rubber bandsIt worked on my first try!Despite a couple of minuses, this trap worked when I pulled the string on my first try. However, if the fish that you are trying to catch isn't as gregarious as a longnose hawkfish, your results may vary.It saved me a ton of grief and frustration.

Worked perfectly!
Worked perfectly! I couldn't be more pleased with its performance. From the moment I set it up, it worked flawlessly. The design is user-friendly, making it easy to place in my tank without any hassle. What impressed me the most was how quickly it caught the fish I was targeting. Within just a few minutes, I successfully got the bully that had been after my other fish. The price is definitely worth it since I can use it as an isolation box in the future.

Makes rehoming easier, But....
Bought to aid in the eviction of a rowdy group of diamond tetras (pictured 2 of the smaller diamonds) from my planted 36g bowfront. Product worked good for smaller guppies (pictured), gouramis and slower tetras. But, as for catching the diamonds, the door falls a bit too slow, i almost wish it was weighted so it fell faster.... That, or I had bought the medium which would put the bait farther inside the trap. A recommendation for the description: please add size recommendations & pictures of trapped fish, which will make selecting a size easier!!! All in all, I'm happy with it, the 2 items mentioned was why I couldn't give it 5 stars.

Instantly caught an aggressive damsel
Very well made and great design. We skipped a day of feeding and put food in it. Of course, the most aggressive fish went in it first. We pulled the string... instant catch. Very effective for the right application. The small was easily big enough for anything that would fit in our 18 gallon Biocube.

a game of hide and seek
took a little longer than i thought. the release line kept on getting stuck on the door that closes and the suction cup would keep releasing. other than that i finally caught a very elusive hawkfish in about 4 days.

Your blind dog could catch fish faster than this junk.
I could not be more frustrated with this over priced piece of garbage. I am generally a fan of CoralVue products and do use several on my Waterbox 130.4 today, but this thing is garbage. First the instructions stink, it doesn't mention anything about use the rubber bands to keep it together, not to mention they don't include enough of them. I was already short one band when another one broke while figuring out how to assemble this. After that you are on your own to figure out how to use it; where to tie the string, what the knob in the door is for, etc... Once you get past figuring out how to build and use it you then need to make it work. The bait tube cover is so lose it is easily pushed off, releasing all the bait into the tank. It can easily be removed by cleaner shrimp, fish, the slightest current if you leave any pumps running, or even just by lowering it into place while setting the trap. It takes a long time to catch fish and to leave all pumps off while you wait is not reasonable so its another challenge. Lastly say you get this assembled, figure out how it works, successfully bait the trap, and a fish swims inside good luck getting the door to work. If the current, shrimp, or hermit crab hasn't already caused it to fall close it you can pray that it closes properly when you pulled the string. Either the door chunk that holds it open with jam in the in the door because its smaller at one end or the door falls off when you pull the chuck out or it catches on the mystery white know and only close half way. It literally would be easier and more successful to break your tank down, remove every rock and grain of sand, coat yours hands in Vaseline, blindfold yourself, and try to capture the fish by hand using only your sense of hearing to locate them. Totally regret dropping absurd money on this garbage.

It works!
It's super fragile (my cat already broke part of it)... but fortunately it was not a crucial piece that was needed and it does work quite well! I caught a leopard bush fish with this thing in a planted aquarium. I made the mistake of growing up some babies in this aquarium and was losing hope of ever getting them out of there before they grew too big. I didn't even bait the trap when I caught him. Just swam right in and I let go of the string and that was that.Update: I caught another difficult fish with this thing. Changing my review to 5 stars. The trick is leave it in there open with the string held down by something (jar of fish food) while you're hanging out in the same room, then just keep an eye on the trap and move the item off the string when the fish goes inside.

Door closes too easily, awkward to use
Takes a lot of practice to get it setup so the door closes properly and doesn't jam. No tips / instructions on how to use beyond the assembly instructions. YouTube wasn't much help either. Fishing line is WAY too short...had to extend it. The little door stop falls out way too easily, letting the door shut before your ready. After several failed attempts due to the design, I finally caught a fish. Check out the NYOS fish trap instead - WAY simpler design, though you can't place it at the entrance to a fish caveThis company makes an algae scrubber that works great though, but it also didn't come with instructions. What is it with this company?! I made my own YouTube video since they didn't.
