BEDTIME STORIES FROM A GALAXY FAR, FAR AWAY!!!
The history of courageous Jedi Masters and dastardly Sith Lords have always been cloaked in the myths and legends of the past. Children throughout the galaxy are told stories by parents and elders of amazing heroes that they could become, and evil villains that may steal them away, in the hopes that they, too, will find their way forward. Nine of those stories are chronicled here by Galactic Historian George Mann as he retells those tales of the past:THE KNIGHT AND THE DRAGON - the hopes of a village rests on the shoulders of an unknown hero from the desert wastesTHE DROID WITH A HEART - a lone droid must find a way to stand against the GENERAL even at the cost of his own existenceVENGEFUL WAVES - two underwater kingdoms diverge and one will face the wrath of the worldTHE WANDERER - the people of Solace are thrice saved by a knight from the wastesTHE BLACK SPIRE - a determined sister armed only with a wooden dagger will do whatever it takes to save her enslaved brother and changes her worldGAZE OF STONE - a Sith apprentice 's plans for greatness are soon left on a windy mountaintopTHE WITCH & THE WOOKIE - a pirate trio find that defying a witch and her familiar has farther ranging effects than they could have believedTHE DARK WRAITH - evil in the city of Solace can't stand against the force ready to punish all those deserving of its attentionCHASING GHOSTS - a scoundrel misleads a bounty hunter with a tale that soon becomes a story of myth and lost treasure throughout the galaxyGeorge Mann is, of course, the go-to chosen chronicler of tales throughout time and space. Newbury & Hobbes...the Ghost of Manhattan...a time-travelling Doctor...and so many others are among his recounted stories of heroes and villains of myth & legend. This book in particular is a gem as the stories are told from the point of view of a teller of stories recounting these tales much as those of the past such as the Brothers Grimm and Hans Christian Andersen have done for untold generations.A pretty quick read and one that would be perfect as bedtime stories for young children as they head off to dreams of wonderous adventures.

Good collection of short stories
Anyone looking to get this should know, it is not one of the "main storyline" novels. It is a collection of short stories, much like the Luke Skywalker book that was put out prior to The Last Jedi. As the title suggests they are stories held to be myths and fables, which may or may not be true (in the context of the made-up story of course), in whole or in part. The first story is clearly about Obi-Wan during his days on Tatooine post Revenge of The Sith. The second is about General Grevious, and there is one about Darth Vader. The rest of the stories really do not have any connection to the big, well-established characters. It is a quick read. There are 170 pages, but the font size of the print is pretty big, and there are illustrations throughout. So if you are a fast reader you can easily get through it in a couple of hours (at most). It is in the category of a young adult novel, but the stories are good enough and written well enough that an adult can easily enjoy the book. It is not what I would call a must-read, but worth picking up if you have collected the other books.

Quick read of short stories - worth a look
This book is a collection of nine short, largely disconnected stories, that hover around 15-20 pages per read. The book is entirely written by George Mann but reminds of the short fiction pieces that were included in the Star Wars Fan magazine for many years or the original novellas that would periodically see print in the back of paperbacks. The difference here is that they don't have a strong connection to the primary Star Wars universe. They exist on the outskirts and hint at continuity here and there but for the most part just tell straight forward short stories using elements found in the Star Wars Universe. I quite enjoyed this very quick read. The Knight and The Dragon is the closest that any story comes to a main character. The Dragon stories have been done several times in novels and comic books as has this particular subject matter. Still, I love the character that is hinted at here and the set up as a faceless protector. The Droid With A Heart is a goofy but excellent story firmly set in The Clone War. It feels a little far fetched but I enjoyed it nonetheless.Vengeful Waves was about a civilization that was too greedy. I wasn't really a fan of this one. Perhaps if war had been throw in there as the end I might have enjoyed this more. The story felt a tad too biblical. The Wanderer was sort of tale of faith. By the end of the book it made more sense without spoiling it.The Black Spire - This had potential but kind of dragged on. By the time the third sibling disappeared I was bored.Gaze of Stone - This was a decent tale of the SIth but you could see the ending coming a mile away. The Witch & The Wookie - I liked this a lot. I was sort of wondered why a wookie? The Dark Wraith - This one was good but should have been longer or deeper. I wanted to know this character more as I read along.Chasing Ghosts - I enjoyed this a lot. Very clever tale that involves bounty hunters and a good chase. So there you have it. Mostly good to very good stories with a couple of head-scratchers. If you like short fiction and you like dancing on the Star Wars fringes then give this a try.

A great in-universe book of stories!
A beautiful edition with some amazing drawings by Grant Griffin, where we get a glimpse of the tales that surround galactic folklore... up to a point. The stories in this book are legends, bedtime stories passed on from generation to generation, and that is where this book shines. The best tales are those from very old legends, like the Sith apprentice ("Gaze of Stone"), or the conflict between neighbors ("Vengeful Waves"), where you can get a sense of wonder and nostalgia. But some of the tales are "newer", created either during the Clone Wars, or the Civil War (the original trilogy), and while they are good stories, they don't seem to carry that much weight or it's harder to take them as myths.Nevertheless, they are good in quality and while you might recognize a currently-popular character, the stories are given a good dose of ambiguity to prevent you from recognizing a character that is not specifically named. The fine edition and drawings make this one a recommended purchase.
