Klein Tools 46039 Cable Splicer's Kit with Cable Splicer Electricians Knife and Free-Fall Snip

This is a nice kit. I used for many terminations and other things. As usual klein provides great quality at affordable prices.

Note: did not purchase for cable splicing The leather sheath has held shape and loop for two years under weight, pulling and hanging. The butter knife has never bent or warped under weight, pressure or pounding... (not safety recommended) but this blade has been used to cut plastics, natural and synthetic ropes, webbing, mule line, cardboard, wood, drywall, cement board, dried fast set, mortar, the occasional conductor shielding, even used to lever things open and apart, as well as turn screws. Not recommending the blade as a 5-in-1, but in two years of job site pounding, the butter knife holds up (always wear safety glasses). The blade could use a sharpening, but the metal even tolerates a file put to it. The rubber handle has held up to metal studs, shiny 90s, cuts, heat, chemicals, hammer pounding, and innumerable drops. The snips are okay, too. You may not use this set to skin a kill in the woods, but as a general purpose cutter set, it holds up and wears easy, sitting out of the way on the waist.

I use these primarily in a datacenter job, and it's by far a favorite tool amongst the staff. When pulling massive amount of cable back, you often need to cut it. The knife we have has been used for over 5 years in a 24/7 datacenter space by many people and is still extremely sharp. The only signs of wear/tear are small scratched on the scissors from being dropped and such. This is an extremely high quality product. I bought on for myself at my home because I like this kit so much. Notice the oil on the blade, so this shouldn't come rusted or anything.

Data center technician favorite tool. Snip is sharp and I recommend you get this one which has the extra finger room. Makes it way more comfortable!

Real simple leather pouch, nothing special really besides feeling like good leather. The knife is short but very sharp. My knife did have a small nick in it but it was near the base and wouldn't affect my use of it. The scissors were great. The handles were much more comfortable than the pair I have from Fluke.

Best sheath knife AND snips I've ever used.. Also, the first ergonomic pair I've used and I got used to them pretty quick.. The cable knife has a thumb grip and the blade kicks ass. I use them all day everyday and I am thoroughly happy with them. NEGATIVE: The pouch is good quality but the snip pouch (outer) is to short for the snips to seat all the way in. If you're wearing them all day, the snips will fall out unless you cut the bottom and let them poke through. I have plenty of other pouches and for the price I'm not going to gripe about it.

I use these for cutting through steel reinforced timing belts to avoid having to obtain a “hot work permit” for the use of a traditional cut off grinder. Works great!

Works great. Use the back part for scissors because I don't use the knife. I hang my milwaukee 12v impact off the lower pocket. 4 stars only because it has a strong chemical smell. But I'm sure it will pass.
