The follow-up Long Gone Daddy features two tracks that feature the influential punk rock band, The Melvins - the title track and Hank Sr. cover, "Ramblin' Man" and Merle Haggard's "Okie From Muskogee." The 2014 album features additional classic covers including ZZ Top's "Fearless Boogie," Johnny Paycheck's "I'm The Only Hell My Mama Ever Raised" and Peter La Farge's "Marijuana Blues." Two previously unreleased tracks include the original version of "On My Own" and "Runnin' & Gunnin'."

Sounds like some crazy mixtape, with the songs ranging from Traditional Honky-Tonk to Punk rock. Basically, this is just a group of:previously-released tracks (e.g. On my Own, which was already released on BOTH Risin' Outlaw and Straight to Hell),covers of anything from Hank Sr to ZZ Top,and outtakes that have been floating around the interwebs for the past 15+ years... You'd be better off buying a full-length Hank3 CD that actually fits together (or, at least, an album that was created with the artists' permission/collaboration).

Nothing new for die-hard Hank III fans; only a Curb Records cash-cow
Those looking for new material by Hank Williams III be forewarned. If you're familiar with Hank III's long-running and still ongoing dispute with Curb Records, then this will come as no surprise. Hank III departed from Curb Records after the release of his album "Rebel Within'" in 2010, which allowed him to branch off in a new direction through his own label. With that, Hank III has been churning out exceptional new material since, unrestricted by Curb Records' nannying and request that he stick with classic, ballady country rather than his punk, heavy-metal, outlaw-style he has been mixing in with his music since day one. He has released albums such as "Ghost to a Ghost/Gutter Town," Attention Deficit Domination," "3 Bar Ranch: Cattle Callin'," "Brothers of the 4x4," and "A Fiendish Threat" since he departed, with each album being better than the last. But since his departure, because Curb Records still owns his name, they have had no problem releasing old, previously unreleased material of Hank III's they wouldn't allow him to release when he was contracted."Hillbilly Joker" (really "This Ain't Country," the unreleased album that Curb prevented Hank III from releasing in 2003), "Long Gone Daddy," and now "Ramblin' Man" are attempts by Curb Records to try and make money off of his name while he is no longer contracted with them.To put "Ramblin' Man" in the spotlight, all these songs on this album have indeed been release before, with the lone exception of "Runnin' and Gunnin," which was a popular bootleg track of Hank III's metal band Assjack.[The original source for all the tracks released on "Ramblin' Man."]"Ramblin' Man" and "Okie from Muskogee:" Both taken from the band The Melvins and both appear on their 2000 album "The Crybaby.""Fearless Boogie:" From the 2002 ZZ Top tribute album "Sharp Dressed Men.""I'm the Only Hell (My Mamma Ever Raised):" Previously released on the 2004 Johnny Paycheck tribute album "Touch My Heart.""Marijuana Blues:" Appeared on the 2010 Peter La Farge tribute "Rare Breed.""On My Own:" A longer cut of the same song that can be found on Hank III's debut album "Risin' Outlaw" from 1999 (almost as shameful as when Curb decided it was acceptable to release a "shuffle mix" of Hank III's "If the Shoe Fits.")"Hang On:" First released on the soundtrack of "Driven," the Sylvester Stallone film.Whether you buy this album or not is your own prerogative, but as long as Curb Records owns the name "Hank Williams III" and his music, they'll keep cranking out his music, with compilation albums such as greatest hits and such surely on the way.In order to differentiate which albums come from Curb and Hank III, look for the ones on Amazon that say "By Hank 3," for they come from and are endorsed by Hank III himself. Anything after 2010 stating "By Hank Williams III" is a Curb Records byproduct.

Nice to have these tracks on vinyl
Nice to have these tracks on vinyl. It also came with the CD as well when I purchased the vinyl copy. Not a big fan of Curb records for obvious reasons but I eventually want to have all of Hank 3's stuff on vinyl so this was a must. The 180 grain record is of very high quality though. Amazon messed up on shipping a few times but they ended up getting it right. I'm overall pleased with this purchase, hell I'd buy it again if Hank 3 released it himself with his own album artwork. It has a very commercial feel to it compared to his other albums (the artwork).

Just a collection of old songs. So it was ...
Just a collection of old songs. So it was kind of a pointless buy for me being as I own his whole discography prior to this already. To spendy for a mix-tape. Basically just the record company trying to make an extra buck off Hanks name.

Love Hank 3
Love Hank 3. Unfortunately, this is one of my least favorite albums of his, to date. Got the order on time and no complaints.
