Altra Canton Cave End Table with Metal Frame, Espresso

I almost never buy items that don't have reviews but this looked sturdy and was significantly less expensive than everything else I saw. I was being *very* picky about what I ordered and this looked the best so I took a risk and ordered.Glad I did! I just got it yesterday and it looks great. I've put together 6 pieces of furniture this week from different places and this one was by far the easiest.The most difficult thing was actually getting it out of the box. The box was glued shut except for one end but it wasn't meant to just be pulled out that way so I had to rip the styrofoam and box apart for about 10 minutes. But once it's out of the box, a child could put this together. It's sturdy enough for me to put my feet on it and it doesn't shift around, the wood pieces are really beautiful despite probably being fake (I don't really care) and it's big enough for a plate and my computer and a big candle, etc.My only issue other than the box problem is that this table is built for stubbing your toes on! I knew it would be that way when I bought it, but the fact that the metal goes all the way around at the very bottom makes it extra precarious, so tread lightly.5 stars because it's exactly what I wanted and GREAT value for the money. Won't subtract a star for shipping b/c you just need a knife and you'll be fine.

I was faced with furnishing an apartment with very little money to burn, yet I wanted things to look coordinated. I salvaged an old metal shelf and turned it into an entertainment center, and then I stumbled upon this coffee table that looked like the perfect match. So I ordered it and I was right. It fits perfectly. And, the two layer design makes it like having two coffee tables in the space of one.The directions were easy to follow. The only tool I had to provide was a philips screwdriver. The lower shelf arrived damaged, but the directions had a support line indicated which I called and true to their word they sent me a replacement shelf quickly.The shelves are thin veneer over particle board and I am very careful not to expose them to damage. I bought a set of coasters so that I never place a beverage directly on the surface.So now I can have people over to my place and it looks classy, like I even thought the decor through, which I didn't. I wanted our living room to have a cool kind of edgy-industrial vibe. We have two large red leather sofas and have always tried to share the one oak coffee table, but no more! I gave the oak away and bought three of these lovelies. They have substance and weight, but can be moved around like sturdy TV tables. (They can also be shoved together to create a train for a 5 year old.) I think they each took me about 15 minutes to assemble. I also bought the matching TV table - with casters - so I now have exactly the 'look' I wanted.15 June 2015 An Update: My husband didn't want to give up our heavy oak coffee table and TV stand whereas I was 100% convinced he'd appreciate the new look and utility of the Altra. Right now I wish I'd kept track of every time he's said 'you were right, these are so great' 'so convenient' 'so easy to move around' . (the 5 year old occasionally sits on them - no problem)

Bought two of these in espresso. Easy to assemble and lightweight. They look great, give a nice contrast to the beige carpet of my apartment. However, there are small gaps between the panels and the metal frame, which becomes noticeable when you are sitting next to the table. Also, like most synthetic wood the panels are damaged by water very easily. However, the espresso color does a good job of hiding the stain so that it's only noticeable under the right lighting conditions.They aren't perfect, but the price is right. Given the option, I would probably buy these again.

Table is large, lightweight, very easy to assemble, looks good, and very sturdy - but I do have some gripes. First, the color is advertised as cherry, but doesn't match my other cherry furniture. It has a hint of cherry, but is more of a brown color. The "wood" surfaces are very cheap, with a paper-like covering that is already a bit scuffed up out of the box and is easily damaged. (Typical of a lot of furniture these days, so I suggest not being too picky when evaluating it.) It meets my needs and is a good value vs. some other choices (though I do think it's overpriced).

For certain buyers this will be a good purchase. For me, it didn't work because it failed to fit in the space that I needed it to fit in. The dimensions were right but note that it does not sit flat on the bottom (which is not totally clear based on the product image). The little feet didn't line up properly within the needed space, so I had to return it.That said, the construction is pretty sold and it was easy to put together. It looks cheap because it is cheap, but I'm sure that that won't be a deterrent to some.

It's pretty good. It looks nice. The bottom shelf is kind of useless. If you have a dog, it will have a lot of dog hair on it. The wood is cheap and got fairly ruined just from my spilling some water on it and not catching it soon enough. You get what you pay for though, it's cheap with a pretty good look.

Very beautiful piece! I had some trouble for about 10mins figuring it out-- my fautl! it is actually very straight forward and comes together wonderfully! i got the matching coffee table. it is absolutely beautiful. sturdy and gorgeous finish. I did use a power drill though the instructions said NOT to use a power tool. oh well, it'll be fine. the color is true to the picture. appears to be good quality and the price was a WIN! all my parts were in the packaging, and they even included spares.
