I was angry because of a manufacturers defect but the problem was quickly fixed
I had posted a previously harsher review because the first one I received had a blowout next to where the tubes connect to the mattress cover. I was pretty upset about it as it was quite obviously a manufacturing problem (I weigh less than 140 pounds and never turn it up past half). However when I reached out to the company they were very kind and very quick at replacing it for me. All I had to do was show them the problem and explain in the next day my new mattress cover was on its way to me.As far as functionality is concerned, there might be a little bit of a learning curve figuring out what number is the most comfortable for you or whomever maybe using it, but once you figure it out you’d be surprised at the difference it makes in your sleep. If I sleep in one spot for too long normally, my joints relax in improper places, and then they stay that way for as long as I’m asleep. This mattress alternates pressure and helps prevent this from happening. I wake up a lot less stiff, and I can probably get a couple more years out of my mattress as well. Not going to say it’ll cure your back problems or anything, I don’t know how well it would work for someone more incapacitated than I, but as far as being someone with a connective tissue disorder is concerned this was money well spent

For the most part, a good buy
I bought it for someone who has limited communication so they can't tell me if they find the pad more or less comfortable than the mattress without. It doesn't appear to be making them UNcomfortable, so that's good. They are about 140 pounds and is 80/20 bed to wheelchair...recently confined to bed while breakdown on the backside heals. With turning and this pad, there is less redness when there used to be more. It's relatively quiet; every few minutes you can hear a little hissing sound as the pressure changes but it's not disruptive.Really easy to set up; there are instructions but you can figure it out by looking, there aren't that many "moving parts". Took about 20 minutes to completely inflate (you cannot inflate while under the user, according to instructions).Even on the lowest setting, the inflated sections get pretty firm. I'm thinking that the firmness dial must refer to the firmness chambers deflate to. Inflation seems to go through 3 phases: all chambers inflated, then alternating rows deflate, repeat. At one point, I had to unplug to reroute the cord, and one day we lost power for about a half hour, and the bed didn't deflate so it seems it won't go flat the minute air is not actively pumping. It doesn't actually go from end to end on a standard hospital bed (referring to the parts of the pad that actually inflate, not including flaps). The pic makes it look like chambers go end to end so that's what I expected but If you put the inflating end starting at one end of your mattress, the other end stops about 5 inches short of going to the other end of the mattress (again, not including flap material). Now, it's unlikely most people go from end to end but you will probably have to decide which end will not have inflating chambers under part of it (are they longer in the torso or legs). I chose the head because their breakdown occurs lower body. Inflation chambers stop around the base of skull and with their pillow under their head, that area is covered up.There's not enough flap to keep it in place under someone who needs to be turned. There really needs to be a way to secure the pad all around because even longer flaps wouldn't prevent the lateral movement. I think the idea is for the sheet to hold it in place but it doesn't. When you are pulling pull-sheets and rolling someone back and forth, even your fitted sheet will shift, especially if the person is heavier and you're doing this solo. Full disclosure: there is a waterproof cover on the mattress underneath that may contribute to some slide, but I'm confident that even without, there would be movement when turning because nothing really anchors the pad. Velcro straps that go around the mattress would've been helpful. If the user is lighter weight and can assist in the process of turning you may have less of an issue with pad movement.Still, a fairly priced, quickly attainable item for those who need the alternating pressure but don't want the expense of a full mattress.

Prevents deadly pressure sores
My husband got a pressure sore, which can escalate into deadly sepsis, in a care home. Not wanting to repeat that when I brought him home to care for him with the help of visiting aides, I decided to give this a try. It was way better than I’d hoped. Easy peasy to set up, whisper quiet, and worked so well distributing weight, important because he couldn’t be turned for longer than a minute or two. I held my breath when the home hospice nurse first arrived to check his thin, frail skin. Then breathed a huge sigh of relief when she declared it perfect! If you’re caring for a bed bound loved one, you need this mattress topper! You will need sheets that have a deeper drop than the typical 6” to allow this mattress topper to inflate. So measure your mattress to see if you need 8” or 10” bottom sheets.

Not what I expected. Uncomfortablble
I am awaiting a two level lumbar spine fusion. My back feels like a knife cutting through. This air mattress fill like lumps and causing so much discomfort. I tried to work with it but it just isn't helpful. I am miserable enough. I don't have the box and want to return it. IT IS NOT ABOUT MONEY IT IS SUPPOSE TO HELP ME BE MORE COMFORTABLE. QUITE THE CONTRARY. I HAVE TWO SURGERIES ONE on CERVICAL SPINE WITH FUSION AND THE LUMBAR SPINE with two Fusion. I don't know if I could hurt morePlease take this back. It is not helping and enhancing discomfort I am a loyal and frequent customer and this is serious to me.
