Cussons Imperial Leather Original Bar Soap - 4 Pack

Received in the USA in 2026. Manufactured in the United Arab Emirates. I grew up using this brand in the UK and my parents who live there still use it. Nice to be able to find it outside the UK. Feels, smells, and works well just like the soap that's sold in the UK. The bars are smaller than what I remember getting there, so the price is relatively high as an imported item. It does have a unique scent to it and it doesn't dry out my skin. The scent is a bit strong and if it's left open in the bathroom it will be noticeable.

Although I'm an American of recent British extraction, and an unabashed Anglophile, I had not heard of this soap until a recent passing mention of it by the wonderful Hannah Fry, in one of her science education YouTube videos. I was intrigued by the website's description of a patchouli and frankincense fragrance, both of which I adore, so I gave it a try. This soap bar has a soft feeling to the dry hand, lathers very quickly to a luxuriously superfatted, moisturising feel, and does not leave my hands feeling dry after rinsing and drying, something to which I am very personally sensitive. The fragrance is quite strong and persistent even after thorough rinsing, and I would characterise is as being just on the masculine side of unisex, but not something which I think is necessarily untoward on a woman. It is simultaneously leather-like and botanical, but not flowery. I think most men would like the fragrance, but it is definitely not a decidedly feminine fragrance, so I think women would probably go either way for personal use, yet find it attractive on men. I think many gender variant people would enjoy it, as well. The ease with which it lathers makes me think it might not last long if left in the shower, so I would be cautious about that and make sure you have a soap dish that drains very well.
