Barfly Tapered Ice Pick, Beech Wood

It's more than an ice pick. It's a conversation piece. It's an ice carving knife. It's a knife for cutting garnishes. There's nothing it can't do. This bad boy has held an edge like a champ and hasn't let me down yet. My only complaint, and it's more of a preference, is the unfinished wood handle. As you know, handling ice means water and water is rough on untreated wood. After a while the texture of the handle just became unpleasant. However, the handle never lessened in sturdiness or quality. I lathered it up in some linseed oil and it pretty much resolved the issue. You will find the same issue with the sheath, but it's much less of an issue.

I like it a lot. I use it to shave off ice so I can have a perfect cube of ice without using a mold.

The very best tool for braining large pelagic fish - like tuna, yellowtail, mahi, wahoo... Better than a spike.

The item that I received should not have made it past QA.There was a 1 mm gap between the blade and the handle (the tang of the blade was not completely pressed in to the handle). I fixed this by putting it in a vice and carefully tapping on the handle.Four stars because this is Barfly's problem. Keep an eye out for this kind of thing, Jeff.

Was really looking forward to using the Barfly ice knife up until I realized it only works properly/safely if you are right handed. I’m left handed. I guess my wife gets a new bar tool she’ll probably chop her fingers off with. I may still hang on to it and gift it to someone.

This works so much better than I ever anticipated. It’s a little dangerous, but if you’re careful works like a charm. Highly recommend, stop trying to use a normal knife to cut ice!

This shaves ice well and gets large chunks carved up efficiently. I also like to use the handle as an impromptu hammer in conjunction with a longer serrated knife for splitting large slabs.
