Old World Beaded Bookmark

A First-rate Bookmark!
I admit it. I bought this on a whim. Originally I logged onto Amazon to shop for a nice bookcover; one with an integrated bookmark ribbon. And then I came across this beauty. Yes, it is overpriced for a piece of pretty cardboard. And yes, I did scold myself for buying it initially. But then it arrived in the mail with the rest of my order, and I must say, it is quite nice! The pictures do *not* do it justice. For starters, this is the best packaged bookmark I have ever seen (yes, a packaging for a bookmark!), it coming in a cardboard backed plastic sleeve. What makes the packaging remarkable (other than it exists at all) is the SKU/ISBN for the product is on it, not the bookmark itself. That means there's no bar-code sticker on the mark itself posing as an eye-sore or hastle to remove. A very nice touch for what you're buying. Secondly, the platic sleeve ensures the bookmark doesn't suffer an dings or damage on its way to you (or at the very least should greatly mitigate such things). Though mine shipped in a much larger box with other goods, the bookmark arrived looking fresh and unabused. As for the bookmark itself, the pattern on the oberse is well-printed and the gold ink really catches the light quite well, but isn't gaudy or obnoxious. The artwork itself (masterfully done by Heather Zschoch) has a charming old European look about it, which is ironic since it was printed in China... but oh well. The reverse is a plain velvety red, but has both 6-inch and 15-cm rulers printed on the lengh-wise edges. Meanwhile, the tastle feels substantial enough despite its relative thinness in the cord, while the bead has an element of fine (if imperfect) details about it giving it an elegant quality.Overall, I'm quite pleased with bookmark. It will work splendedly well for the job I have in mind for it. And while technically any scrap of paper, business card, or post-it-note would suffice for a bookmark, some books deserve the specal treatment. And let's face it it, sometimes you need to treat yourself to something superflously extravigant, like for instance a $3 bookmark!

Good gift
This bookmark was purchased as a teacher appreciation gift for a social studies/world studies teacher. I have bought many Peter Pauper Press bookmarks over the last few years because they are reasonably priced and good quality. I like the coordinating tassels and beads, and the marker is sturdy, not flimsy.Pretty sure the teacher liked it!

Pauper Press Bookmarks are as good as any other
A review on a bookmark? Sure!Listen, Pauper's bookmarks are great. They have great images, quotes, and are of a industry standard card stock and lamination. They slide in and out of the pages well, and never fall out.My only problem is that the threads at the end of the tassel fall out under the slightest pressure. This situation, like say where they get trapped under something heavy, is something that shouldn't happen, but on the occasion it does, be prepared to see five or six of them to fall out, even if you carefully remove the heavy item from them.Great bookmarks just the same!

it's really good quality and beautiful
The media could not be loaded. it doesn't bend as most plastic feeling bookmarks do, it's really pretty and comes in a nice 'casing'
