Nothings' Perfect, but this is Pretty Good!
I got this printer in 2007, and really like it. I can only review the print, scan and copy functions, since I've never used the fax. Print: NOTE: This printer has a lot of functions: double-sided (it's manual--first you print the odd pages, then the evens), varying ink concentrations, speeds, color saturation, etc. Not all of these different functions can be used on all computers. It appears to be a software issue, and may be my user error. I have used it successfully with a Mac, Dell PC, and HP home computer. The highest quality printing is slow, but it's really high quality. Pictures that have a lot of dark color can come out with some striations, but for occasional home use, it works really well. The fast draft can crank out pages in about 3-5 seconds each, but full color prints can take 5 minutes each. Scan: I've been really impressed with the scanning function on this computer. It's not particularly fast, but the detail is great. It has the capacity to scan at a really concentrated ppi, though the resulting image will be bigger than a normal computer's memory can deal with, even if there's nothing else taking up space. You can also scan multiple-page documents into one file using the printer's top feed. Copy: This is a nice function that works fast, and doesn't require going through the hp software on your computer--just use the buttons on the front of the machine. The printer can do single sheets, or multiple pages, though it's not particularly fast. I would buy this printer again, but I feel that this one will last long enough that I won't have to worry about replacing it for a while.

Great Price and Vista Compatible
This is an excellent multi-function printer for under $120! I am more than satisfied with the performance and functions. Before going on, please read the following: Some important notes prior to purchasing the HP Officejet 5610 Note 1: Prior to purchasing this printer, one should remember that the USB connection cable is not included. This must be purchased separately; Note 2: Vista users should not download the included software that comes with this product. Instead, one should go to--[...] and download the specific Vista software from online. Installation of the online Vista software should be done first (before hooking up the multi-function printer). Note 3: This printer is not for high speed printing use. Print times for me has been approximately 10-12 pages per minute. Despite the slow performance, the quality of print is excellent. Now that the important advisory notes are completed, I will go on with the actual review: The Vista Software: The download and installation of the Vista Software was very easy and took approximately 28 minutes for online download and installation. The Set-up: Very easy to set-up right out of the box. Set up and connections were completed in less than 4 minutes. This also included cartridge alignment. The registration: Registration online was completed in less than 5 minutes utilizing broadband access. The Fax function: Very Simple and easy to use. When connecting the existing telephone with the fax function, one should set their answering machine to pick up after 4 rings. This action enables telephone answering machine functions and fax functions to operate concurrently. The Copy function: One touch copy function very easy. The Scan function: From computer operation, or one-touch printer function, it is very easy to use. Depending on the quality needed, the scan function may take anywhere between 12 to 45 seconds to scan. The Print function: Awesomely simple with good quality. Photos are stunningly high quality with the use of photo ink cartridges (HP 58 photo cartridge). Overall performance: Terrific! This printer is easier to set up and use than any other printers I have worked with (I have used canon, lexmark, dell, epson). For what it does and for how it performs, this printer is worth a lot more money! Definitely two thumbs up on this one! Hewlett-Packard really "hit the bullseye."

Disappointed
This is a good device with useful features when it works properly; however, I had some minor problems with it (it stopped functioning from the buttons on the printer itself, and none of the solutions I found online worked) and called their support. They couldn't care less about my problem or whether or not I choose HP products in the future. Refused to escalate my call or my feedback, though I was very polite, etc. I will never, ever, purchase an HP product again, and I will shout the same from the highest rooftop. Buyer beware.
