Way beyond a point and vluvk, RXO II is fully professional grade.
I have three RXO IIs configured for portable multicam recording all centrally managed by Android app as well as PC software. With full pixel HDMI read out, mic input and separate power input with timecode triggering, zebra, audio level, histogram, eye tracking, and slog 2 gamut to name just a fraction what this camera offers is simply amazing. Batteries are easily upgraded to twice the power and overheat shut off can be disabled. With this many functions, you really have to give yourself the time to study the extensive online manual and hdr recording documentation.

Great camera to get in close to record musicians on stage!
Battery life was kind of low but I ran it on USB power and didn't have any issues over 12 hours of shooting. The app while kind of laggy was great for starting and stopping recording and to allow for manual focusing as well as changing settings based on ambient light. Used in conjunction with a LumeCube I was able to control both remotely and never had to mess with the rig.

God this is so much better than a GoPro...If you take the time with it
This camera is fantastic. The quality of the video it outputs is so much better than a GoPro, but it demands that you take the time to set it up properly. Do your research, prepare for the environment in which you shall use it, and it will never let you down...as long as you have extra batteries or a USB charging block.

This camera rocks. If you understand it.
Iโve seen lots of mixed reviews about this camera and as a pro photographer, Iโd like to add my insight. For starters, this is not a GoPro or a typical action camera. This is a camera that can perform more manual functions than anything like a typical action cam. For example, I shoot real estate properties, and this little guy can shoot bracketed photos in wet weather that I can then edit in photoshop later on. A GoPro canโt do that, nor does it have a sensor large enough to produce the kind of images that this camera can produce. It does have limitations, but itโs tiny. Itโs a trade off. Overall, this is an excellent, compact Sony rig that will give you that โSony 4kโ video look that you cannot get from an action cam. The one inch sensor does fairly well in low light. Iโd say this is a tool for more experienced photographers and videographers. Also, let me correct one thing I keep seeing: you CAN turn the LCD screen back on while shooting. Just press the โenterโ button. By default, most small cameras will turn off the screen after about a minute, to save battery life. This one is no exception, but you can turn it right back on if needed, just like a GoPro. Buy this if you need something small, weatherproof and rugged, with the ability to shoot similarly to an Alpha or RX sรฉries camera.

Good concept, but misses the mark for vlogging
After some real-life testing, I have concluded that this camera has some major technical issues that greatly affects its usability, particularly for vlogging. Although many of the boxes for the "perfect" vlogging design were checked, there were also some major issues such as the lack of continuous autofocus and some distortion on the 24mm lens (should not happen at this 35mm equivalent focal length). The lack of continuous autofocus is even more critical because of the shallow focusing plane offered by the large 1" sensor. When you are out vlogging, you are likely going to point your camera at other locations besides just yourself which will require re-focusing. In other words, if you switch from selfie mode to scenery mode in the same shot, the latter will be out of focus (DOA). The other issue of the lens distortion should not even occur at 24mm. The point of getting this camera was to avoid the GoPro-like fisheye distortion that may not be suitable for all situations. All software lens correction does is digitally fiddle with the image until it's less noticeable, but to the "trained" eye, it makes the image even worse because you will add distortion elsewhere. The manufacturers need to get more input from real vloggers and not designers who likely guess the requirements and inevitably miss the mark. I really wanted to like this camera, but these issues were just too significant to overcome as a vlogging camera.

A keeper
I snorkel with this camera every day, it works well for stills. Purchased because of the form factor. Battery life with intermittent usage is great. Power on delay is negligible. I really like the lack of a touch screen as on other cameras transitioning the water surface can trigger the screen. The download software not great and wifi eats the battery, so I pop the memory card. As a consequence after 3 months of use the camera is at Sony due to flooding. I hope that story has a happy ending......(so 4 stars so far). The attached image was taken at about 20ft, is a jpg direct from the camera, not altered except for minor cropping. EDIT: Upped to 5 stars because of Sony's handling of the flooding issue.

Do not buy for 4K recording!
First off, this little camera takes very good pictures - the lens is of usual, good quality, optics are quite good considering the size, and the form factor is fantastic. That's where it ends. For an action-cam, it's too limited. Abysmal battery life on its own, and no way to extend the battery life while keeping it waterproof. As a remote/perspective cam it's crippled by the fact that you CAN NOT CONTROL 4K RECORDING OF THIS CAMERA FROM YOUR SMARTPHONE! The "Ctrl f/Smartphone" function is disabled when set to 4K recording, and the only way to enable it is it drop it to FHD recording. But even if you get set it up for 4K recording, the camera will overheat and shut down after 20-25 minutes... just short of the battery giving out. The limited footage it produces is good. However, it's too limited for me. The waterproof bit is useless if I can't take it snorkeling for a couple of hours without risking salt-water ingress while swapping batteries. I can't set it up as a remote camera, because there's no way to start/stop recording without physically touching the camera - and I can't leave it recording, even with USB power, for extended periods of time, because it will overheat and shut down. But then, if I want a good camera for short 4K clips, I can just use my phone. For action cams, there are other brands ("pro" or amateur) which have more accessories available, including waterproof housing with extended battery life. Disappointed (and returning)

Good for what it does
I enjoy the novelty of the RX0 ii, with its tiny form factor and ability to shoot 4k video. The aperture is nice for getting a decent background blur effect, and the focal length is wide enough for a blog style approach. Having the back panel flip out and around is great for that as well. The sound is fine for voice, and the battery life is good for shooting short scenes (about an hour, I would estimate). That is a bit limiting, and requires that you pack along some extra batteries or have a plan about your video beforehand.

Excellent for travel and running
Its durability is really great and a good B camera. Perfect in rain or water.

Not the greatest actioncam but AMAZING as an ULTRAportable travel cam or "b" camera in a video shoot
Sony DSCRX0M2/B RX0 II 1โ (1.0-Type) Sensor Ultra-Compact Camera There are plenty of reviews on this by professional reviewers. I wont really get into basic functions. If youre looking for primarily "action" camera? dont buy this camera. GoPro 11 is vastly superior because of the video stabilization , and extremely wide angle view. In addition, the GOPRO phone app is vastly superior than Sony's. This camera has VASTLY superior 1" sensor than any "action" camera with 1/1.9" or 1/2.X" sensor. There is simply no competition. Stills and video is incredibly clean and essentially "mirrorless SLR" like quality within reason. The images are as if i took it on my sony a7 III (obviously not identical but pretty darn good). Sony's RAW images are great but its internal JPEG processing is amazing. I like keeping NOISE Reduction to the "low" level -- this is a personal preference. While 4K video is limited to heat issues, both 4K and HD videos are crisp and very clean. I'm very happy with the output "as is" without post processing. The very fact that there is an external MIC input and an HDMI output (along side 1" sensor), tells you what Sony had in mind for the usage of this camera. It really really begs for rigging up a handheld ULTRA PORTABLE video "run&gun" shooting. The shell is all metal. and seals are visibly present for full immersion waterproofing. Front of camera has a replicable glass cover frame that protects the lens. If you shatter it, you could buy a new one for around 150$. This camera has an EXTREMELY useful articulating screen which lets you do selfies by flipping the screen up 180degrees. Also has a nice side benefit that it can be used for webcam on your pc. --------------- IF this isnt a great "action camera" -- then what then is this good for? 1. As hinted above, this makes for a very nice "B" camera where you are right in space. Anyone into video, this is a GREAT tiny recorder. 2. TRAVEL!! i bought this because although i love the pixel7pro, i want to have a bit more SLR-quality videos and pictures for my vacations/travels. I'm not willing to lug around my SLR/lenses -- too inconvenient! This camera is ULTRA portable and slots right between my phone VS SLR. I want to go take this to vacations such as mexico, where i have a very nice usable 24mm f/4 field of view that works in so many versatile scenes. I also have a water proof submergible camera. I'm happy that i dont need to lug around SLR and lenses. I only use my SLR for formal shoots. Things i dont like? 1. Menu system --- if you are familiar with SONYs a7 SLR's , this is basically the same except NO touch screen. ALL up/down/left/right/ENTER button based. LOTS OF button presses. What i cant stand is, on SLR there was a feature to "snap to" the MyMenu tab to get all your quick custom frequently used stuff right away -- but on RX0, even with latest software firmware , that feature doesnt exist so you have to use all the buttons to get to the "my menu" -- by that time, you might as well just not use it at all. 2. Battery life is not spectacular. Always keep a second one handy -- this obviously means u should buy a 70$ battery plus an external charger. adds to cost here. Another option is to buy a 200$ sony hand grip which has an external battery to plug into microusb port of the camera for "more power" but then youre not able to make it a waterproof camera of course. I DO NOT recommend thirdparty battery for this camrea -- too many reviews on this and they just dont last long at all even if they claim 1000maH (vs sonys 700) 3. Price tag !!! At around 900$, plus needing a backup battery, this is basically point&shoot pricing. Youre really paying for an extremely robustly made product , in a miniature format . You need to want to have a small waterproof form factor badly -- otherwise you can just buy a small point and shoot that gives you 1" sensor and zoom capability in lens etc.. There you have it. Thats my honest assessment and i hope this helps.

Falls short as a slow motion camera
I purchased this camera to shoot high frame rate video. I was enticed by the ability to shoot up to 960 FPS. However, the functionality of this feature fell very short of expectations. You cannot simply start and stop recording with the device. Very confusing. Very frustrating. Even after figuring out the confusing record feature, it was extremely difficult to capture the desired motion. I'm sure this camera is great for shooting a vlog. If using for action or slow motion applications, steer clear.

No continuous auto-focus
It is a video camera, so you'd expect continuous auto-focus (AF-C), but for this camera, you actually have to half-press the shutter to focus, and if subjects move, too bad :-|, misleading for Sony to claim AF-C
