Not cast iron?
There is some confusion about the cast iron in the description. There are 2 products for sale here. One is a cast iron grill press and the other is a plastic burger patty press. I bought the burger press. This makes a perfect burger patty. I used a scale to weigh the burger, placed it in the press and a perfect patty emerged. I didn’t need to use the papers, the patty came right off. You can vary the thickness of your patty by changing the amount of hamburger you use. Clean up is a breeze, simply toss the parts in the top rack of the dishwasher. The storage bad is nice to keep the press ready to go for next time.

Uniform burgers!
Great burger press. I have used it for regular burgers and stuffed burgers. My tip of the day. Wrap each piece in cling film to keep the patties from sticking. There are 4 pieces. The removable disc, the body of the form, the handle is 2 pieces. To make stuffed burgers, I wrap the bottom disc, pull the excess underneath and put the disc in the form.I like to separate all of the ground beef into portions by weight, before I start pressing the patties to insure they are all uniform in size and will cook evenly, about 7 oz per burger, I use 4 oz for the base and 3 oz for the top. Having all of the meat portioned out before I start building the burgers makes the process fast and easy. Put a 4oz portion in the base, press it with smaller part of the handle covered with cling wrap. Put your filling in the recess, press the remaining third of the ground meat into a small patty put it on top of the filling and press it with the larger part of the handle. I don’t attach it to the handle. Remove the patty by pressing up on the bottom of the form, turn the patty, over reinsert it and press it again to get a good seal to keep the filling from leaking out.I can make a dozen stuffed burgers in about 20 minutes. Regular burgers are super fast. I portion the meat by weight, takes seconds to press each one.Without the cling wrap it was a fight to keep the meat from sticking. With that small hack I give this press 5 stars!

Perfect Burgers Every Time.
When I made burgers by hand, the process was always messy. Shaping my burgers was like molding a sculpture but the always ended up looking like a biological experiment gone wrong.I used my new Mountain Grillers Stuffed Burger Press for the first time yesterday. When I removed the pressed burger out of the cylinder it was like opening a present on Christmas morning. I formed a perfectly shaped burger. I was very pleased. This Burger Press is well made and carefully thought out. Nothing stuck to the press and the patty was very easy to remove. The meat stayed together nicely and the wax discs it came with made it less messy to handle the meat once the patty was formed. This truly is a better version of a burger press. Easy clean up and storage. I highly recommend this product to anyone who loves making burgers but hates the mess they can make.~Bobby KmiecThis

So easy to use, works great
I had never used a burger press before and after using this press to make a stuffed burger, know I will be using it often. I like that, unlike some other presses, all the parts fit together to make one compact unit. There is the ring with removable bottom, the top press with handle which houses the depression mold for stuffing the burger. The mold for the depression is accessed by twisting the press lid and lifting up. The bottom of the press has little non-skid pads to prevent the press from sliding around while you are pressing out your burger. The entire unit is made of a pretty thick, rigid plastic material that doesn't bend and is advertised as being dishwasher safe. Even if you hand-wash, like I did, all the pieces are very easy to clean, nothing sticks! Also included with the press were a number of parchment-like patty papers. These are very handy to prevent the burger from sticking to the top press. They can be re-used for as many burgers as you are making that meal. The patty papers can also be use as separators between burgers if you're freezing them. This particular unit came with its own storage bag, too.Making a stuffed burger for the first time wasn't at all difficult with this press. Am seriously thinking about getting another one for the motorhome!

Almost perfect
The supplied directions aren't the way I make my stuffed burgers. I start with a 3 oz ball of burger. I use a kitchen counter top scale to measure it. Put a piece of the waxed paper into the hopper, put another piece of the waxed paper over it. If you don't the burger will stick to the press parts. Use the full sized press to squeeze it down flat, to fully fill the hopper. Then use the smaller press to indent the burger. Remove the waxed paper, fill the indent with cheese. Put a 2 oz ball of burger onto a piece of waxed paper on the kitchen counter, put a piece of waxed paper over it, use the full size press to flatten it. Put that piece of burger in the hopper, with a wax paper disc over it, use the full size press to squeeze it all together. Remove the assembled burger from the hopper, leaving the waxed paper discs on it until you're ready to cook or put it in a bag for freezing. I freeze mine with a vacuum sealed bags to prevent freezer burn. Larger bags let you put two or more in the same bag.The reason I say 'almost perfect' is that the burgers are a bit on the small side. They fit a burger bun OK, but I prefer bulky rolls. Just before putting them on the grille I flatten them down to make them fit bulky rolls. Reduce the grilling time by 20% or so compared to a solid 5 oz burger, they cook faster because of the cheese in the middle. Clean up is a snap using the waxed paper discs to keep the meat from touching any of the press parts. You'll use a lot of discs, but they're so inexpensive you won't mind.

Try to save a little money
Purchased for my son to try making at home with bulk buger, instead of buying pre-made.
