DEWALT Electrical Estimating Professional Reference (DEWALT Series) 2nd Edition

Good basic reference if you are interested in staring an electrical business. The book provides fundamental steps and clear guidance to walk you through the process of writing an estimate. It also provides estimates for typical residential and small business electrical projects. It is limited in its ability to give the level of detail needed to prepare an estimate for larger projects. If you want to know how long it will take to run wire around the perimeter of a garage, and install an outlet every ten feet, you will find this book to be a good reference. If you want to estimate the costs of running three "00" conductors in a manufacturing facility that has a 20' ceiling, and up to a roof-top cooling unit, following the NEC, you will be disappointed.

I've had the book now for about a month now and have actually stopped reading it. The information is solid but the way the chapters are arranged makes the information difficult to absorb. As you read, the book references tables and forms but they are at the end of each chapter. This makes it difficult to follow because you either have to repeatedly flip to the back of the chapter to reference each table, or wait untill the end of the chapter and try to remeber what each form or table is for. Also, whether good or bad the book is only 6 inches tall. I thought I was getting a full sized book.

To the electrical savvy person this would be a helpful book. However, once the basic ofestimating are learned then the book would set on a shelf collecting dust. Over priced butstill cheaper than purchasing software to do computerized estimating.

The title "reference" is correct. A good source of tables and forms and "how to organize" an estimate. A good number of labor units but very little pricing info, and what's listed is probably not current.

This book was $11.00 when I bought it. See them on here going for $2k now. I got a gold mine here. Stay back!

I haven't used bthis product but it looks like it wilkl be verry useful in the future.
