are the basket and the globe dish washer safe

By globe, do you mean the glass pot? Both the basket and glass pot are dishwasher safe. I have cleaned them in the dishwasher dozens and dozens of times. Note it does not have automatic shutoff, which for me is not a problem, for the price you can't beat it, I've owned two.

is the carafe made of plastic or glass?

The carafe itself is made of pyrex glass, the handle and lid are heat resistant plastic

I cannot see the height of this coffeemaker...can someone help me? I have 12" between the countertop and bottom of the cupboards. Thanks

11" high.....7" wide.....9" deep. Only 1 inch clearance means a LOT of steam vapors going up in you cupboard.

Can i get the cup only to buy? Mine broke

You can get a replacement carafe, available on Amazon, but it will cost more than the whole unit.
