Husqvarna Part Number 581851501 Adapter

I installed this part on a Husqvarna HU800AWD self-propelled push mower. I saw several of the reviews that said it was a poor quality part. I installed with great ease (minus all the disassembly to get to the part itself) it and I toughened it to the recommended 35-40 ft. lbs. of torque. Trying to crank it as tight as possible will put undue stress on the adapter, including the star. There is a lock washer to keep the bolt toughened and a lot of fine threads to keep the bolt from backing out and flying off the mower (threading is the opposite direction of the spinning blade). There is no way you could be using the mower while the bolt loosened itself completely off the mower without you feeling the mower going crazy from the lack of blade balance. Not to mention the blade would no longer be engaged to the star and would stop spinning. I replaced this one because the top half of the spindle came loose which disabled the belt drive. Everything worked fine once it was installed. It's an OEM part so theoretically, it should be identical to the adapter that came in the mower. If the blade dislodges and cuts my leg off, I'll adjust my rating and review accordingly.

My old Craftsman mower ran for over 10 years with zero repairs until I gave it away. Towards the end I was trying to kill it by "mowing" parts of the woods so I could justify getting a new self-propelled mower. Well, I got what I wanted, a Husqvarna HU800AWD mower. After two seasons the spline (flower shape) just crumbled off the blade adapter. This part was exactly what I needed and I had it swapped out in 15 minutes. No need to remove the belt. I just took off one of the guide pulleys and that was enough slack to pull off the old one and slip the new one on. I suggest a little thread lock on the main bolt since, although I tightened it well, it still vibrated loose. I stopped it before any damage was done and cranked down on it again. Works fine now.

Very low quality part. The star pattern that fits into the blade broke off after 2 uses. I was cutting grass that was not long and there was no other leaves or debris that could have put extra strain on the blade. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT.

Part showed up quickly. Should last longer than I expect to be able to push that mower.

The blade adapter fixed my problem, the star offset that hold the blade in place was wore off the old blade adapter. Was real easy to install and now no problem holding blade inplace. Would recommend, very good price.

The mounting teeth are a little weak.

Cut the grass twice so far and no issues. As long as you torque the blade to spec it won't break on you like others have reported (read your manuals, no need to over-tighten the blade bolt).I used this on a craftsman mower with a Briggs and Stratton engine.Install is easy and done within a few minutes.

this mower blade adapter was very poorly made and gave little clearance to hold blade and carefully work is required to remove and reinstall especially for a back yard mechanic and who are the ones that purchase these units.

No issues installing and fit perfect. Shipping was slow but I expected this in these times.

It was the proper replacement for the broken one
