Are the acrylic rods sturdy enough to roll out polymer clay?

I think the larger ones would work, especially with a softer polymer clay (like Sculpey as opposed to Fimo). The blue-handled ones are slightly tacky and grippy, and I think you’d run into difficulty getting a smooth surface on your clay. Th smallest ones I could definitely see some application for, if you do sculpting work with your clay, for detailed carving.

What kind of paint is used?

I used acrylic paint with the mandala dotting tools.

Does this come with stencils?

Yes, it comes with one stencil, which is great as an outline, but it's so easy to find ideas on line. We brought this art at to a huge family function and everyone, from the young to the old loved this set.

My set only had two of the three shown clear rods. Is it supposed to contain 8 total?

High quality set useful for muliple crafts

Even after a few years all of these products are just as good as they day they came. They are marketed for mandala dotting crafts but I bought them for clay after seeing similar ones used in clay craft videos. The dotters could also be useful for nail art. I have used the sharp tool for book binding. It was a great price for such useful, high-quality and versatile tools, plus they look really cool and come in a sturdy bag. I highly recommend this product for any crafter.

Helps to make much neater mandalas

I love my new dotting tools. They help make my mandalas so much neater and the bag to keep them all in is really nice. I haven't tried the large ball tools yet, not sure how to use them in the best way.

Good Value for Mandala Projects

This product is good for mandala projects. The acrylic dowels are thick, crisp/flat bottomed & aesthetically pleasing. The metal balls are a little heavier as you increase in size, but that is expected, as they are metal. They are perfect size for the hands. Considering these are my first 2 mandala projects, they came out pretty good & worked well.The white paint holder is thin plastic - nothing to rave about. The blue bag had some white bended/crease points inside - low quality bag, but it's a bad and it does it's job of holding everything in so no complaints.Pros: easy of use, crisp dowels, good quality, good price.Cons: the set smells pretty strong when you open it of chemical. I let it air out & wiped everything down with alcohol wipes & the scent went away.
