These traps work GREAT the first time! Efficient, easy to use and NOT messy!
When I first saw how light weight these traps were compared to those big black heavy plastic black traps with the 4 or 5 holes that were used back in the 60's, I didn't have much hope. But wow do they work nice. They take little space and do the job of killing the mouse immediately without torturing the creature.Just put a tiny bit of peanut butter in the recessed pan, so that the mouse must crawl up and put his front weight on the plate as he bends his head down in to lick the pan and SNAP!So easy to release the mouse into the garbage by just holding the back of the trap and pressing down on the bar to release the front of the bar holding the mouse down. You never ever touch the mouse. You don't even need to put more food on, as this trap works so fast that the mouse doesn't even get to eat the food. (That is, if you only put a tiny bit way down into the well.Remember, the mouse doesn't have to see a big gob of PB in the dish, he has come to your trap because he SMELLS the PB in the dark. I have to keep reminding my boyfriend to not fill the dish up as if he is feeding the mice!, because that is exactly what happened when he did that. They will lick all the PB that is piled up and then the trap will not go off, until they get down into the dish, because that requires them to put THEIR weight on the springload plate.

Kness SNAP-E vs Ortho 0321110 vs stick pad vs rat poision
I have tried everything. Sticky pads work, but rat stays alive. I feel bad when I try to dispose them off. They stare straight in to your eyes cutely. Rat poison (MOTOMCO Tomcat Mouse and Rat Bromethalin Bait Chunx) is effective, but rats do die inside your home hidden somewhere and I get flies from their maggots. Type of rat poison I got is a neurotoxin. Other type of rat poison makes rats thirsty. So they are supposed to leave your home in search of water and they die outside. I have not tried them yet.Best solution is this age old, time tested spring loaded mouse trap. It kills the rats and very effective at catching them. Trick is in the bait. Most effective bait is peanut butter. I got an organic peanut butter jar so that we both could share :). Only drawback of spring loaded mouse trap is, you have to keep watching them every day. Take it like a sport. The reason I gave Kness SNAP-E 3 stars is, it lets rats slide off sometimes. Ortho trap (5 stars) has an alligator clamp (tooth) and it has not missed even once. I also find that Ortho trap catches more rats than Kness, I am not sure if the bright white color of the plastic is helping Ortho traps.

Quick, clean and easy
I purchased these traps after attempting to fight a mouse problem with poison. The smell of a rotting mouse corpse somewhere under my kitchen prompted me to find a quicker and more controlled "removal" option.I didn't want to bother with the old fashion snap traps, so I researched my options and found these. They were the perfect option. Ordered and recieved the next day with amazon prime! (No, I did not select one day shipping....I double checked)Put some Jiffy PB on both traps during the day in my garage. Went out a few hours later after it got dark an already had a "catch". Clean and easy to dispose of. Replaced the trap and went on my way. Next night, another mouse met it's maker.I know my poison took out a few from my orignal mouse problem, but these traps finished the job. I haven't seen any evidence of mice in my garage. These trap are effective. Strong, fast and sensitive...but not overly sensitive.I was a little concerned about having to deal with "splatter" because of how hard these traps snap. I was surprised to find absolutely no need to clean anything up.I highly recommend these traps. Be sure to put them on known paths of your furry intruders for maximum effectiveness.

Caught One Baby Mouse and Then....
Once I opened this twin pack mouse trap upon receiving, I was immediately skeptical that these would do the job. Well, I found out as soon as I started using them, using peanut butter as a bait. The first night of their use, one caught a baby mouse. The other trap, however, disappeared out of sight! A mouse must have survived the trap and had enough strength to take off with the trap. I was initially skeptical when I checked the trap's strength upon receiving, and the actual use has confirmed that I cannot rely on these to do the reliable job.UPDATE:The remaining trap has now officially become a peanut butter serving plate for my resident mice. It hasn't caught a single mouse since my original review; instead, my resident mice are becoming fatter and happier with my regular serving of peanut butter. Forget this mickey mouse of a trap!
