Mousetronaut: Based on a (Partially) True Story

Great book with a great message - You are never too small, too young, etc to be helpful and have purpose! I love that it was written by an astronaut and that he got the idea for his book when he observed the mice on his real space mission. Mouse's name is Meteor - loved it! Great illustrations! Facts in the back teach kids how animals were used in space. I read this aloud to elementary students grades 1-5 . They all enjoyed it and had great "I wonder" questions about our space program!

My 3-year old daughter loves Mousetronaut. She got it for christmas after we visited KSC in Florida. The story is very well written with the little mouse going from underdog to the hero, she loves that. I don't particularly like the style of illustration (the mouse itself is supercute but humans look kinda weird) but that is just personal preference. The book is of good quality and should survive handling by small children (we got the hardcover).The afterword provides some more background for the parents (or older children), which is a nice touch.

When I read in the reviews that this book is for 5 year olds, I was a little concerned it would be too wordy for our 2,5 year space lover. I was wrong, it doesn’t have too much text and is very suitable for her age. She wants to read it over and over again:).

Meteor is a hit at our house. His story has been the bedtime story of choice since we got this, with multiple daytime readings as well. My son lights up when Meteor gets chosen for the mission, with every reading.

We live in Tucson..BIG fans of Astronaut Kelly, and his wife, of course! He was kind enough to sign our book. My kids really like this book. Highly reccomend.

This is the perfect book for preschoolers interested in space. It's cute story with amazing illustrations, and was a nice break from all the non-fiction text I use during a two week space unit in my UPK classroom.

Bought as a gift for my almost 8 year-old grandson, whose grandfather worked on aerospace projects. He thinks he would like to be an astronaut and I thought since the book was written by an astronaught, he would enjoy reading it.

I really like the fact that this story is realistic in terms of its depiction of space travel. However, the story feels slightly weakly told, and it lasted less than a week as our three-year old space-mad son's bedtime book before he wanted something else - he just never really got into it like he does with some books.

Bought this for my cousin, aged 5. He loved reading through it, definitely a hit.

Definitely for kids who are interested in rockets, space and astronauts. Its a simple and sweet story about a mouse who is tiny, but still of great help to a mission in space. The illustrations are stunning.

A story that demystifies what happens on a NASA space mission...engagingly told in the story of a little mouse...lessons of self esteem, patience and being to contribute no matter how big or small. My 4 year old enjoys it thoroughly...also the perfect gift for kids this age...not commonly found in a kid's book shelf.
