Impressive little light
I bought this headlamp because it met all my requirements for an ultralight, weekend backpacking piece of gear. It weighs only 2.3 oz with the AA battery. You can go lighter with the push button zipper pull lights, but you sacrifice so much with that option, it's almost not worth bringing as a primary light. With this one you get a great function to weight ratio. One bright (listed at 100 lumens) white light with hi/med/low/flashing functions and a two, night vision saving red LEDs with a constant/flashing function. It has a nice, large headband that would easily be able to adjust over a climbing helmet or sized to fit a toddler. Along with the red LED for night hiking, the other feature that attracted me to this product was that it ran on ONE AA battery, not 3 AAA's or some exotic, expensive battery. At an extra 1.6 oz you can have 2 battery backups and I'm still .3 oz less then my old Tikka (with no extra batteries). The build quality is far superior to those dollar store lights; it is still an all plastic construction but the battery compartment has a satisfying "snap" shut and the headlamp angle adjustments have a solid click (this part is the weakest point and may wear out over extended usage, but at the price...). I have not tested it's water resistance capabilities, but it does have a rubber seal along the battery compartment. The price cannot be beat. I got it for just under $15 around Black Friday and at the time I am writing this review it is running a buck more. I have seen other headlamps (identical in appearance, just different names and colors) going for $40+.If you are in the market for a nice, inexpensive, lightweight headlamp, do yourself a favor and pick this one up.

Fantastic light-weight lamp packing incredible brightness
Update 2: The seller sent me a replacement lamp that is programmed to go straight to red if you hold the power button down while turning it on. This is an amazing improvement since you won't blind everyone at night when you need the red light.I just used this light on a sailboat race from Massachusetts to Bermuda and it was very comfortable to wear and had a stronger bright white beam than the large flashlight in the cockpit that everyone else had to use to look at sail trim. This is now my first-choice headlamp and I won't leave on any race without it.Update: Seller contacted me and offered to fix the programming of the switch, which would make it a great light. Based on their quick response, I am updating to 3 stars. Once they follow through and make the correction, I'll give this product 5 stars because that seems to be its only flaw.Original Review: Great weight, great beam, but the default beam when you turn it on is the brightest white, completely negating the benefit of having a red beam for night vision. You have to hold the switch down once it is on to get the red beam. The designers/manufacturers of this light have obviously never been in a situation where one would want the red beam to avoid the glare of the bright light and the subsequent disturbance to the eyesight of the user and everyone around them.

This is one great little light! You can't go wrong with this one.
This is a great little light! Very bright and easy to operate. I like how you can turn it off with one press of the button from whatever mode your in. You can also get to the red mode by just holding down the button for a couple seconds when the light is off. This means no retina impact when you want to go directly to red.The biggest advantage with this light, is that is uses a single AA battery instead of three AAA like most other lights in this category. A single AA battery costs about the same as an AAA, but has about 2.5 times the energy. This means that this AA powered light costs about a third to operate vs the AAA powered units. This adds up when you use the light often.I also really like the slim close fit of the light against your forehead. It does not hang out very far and does not bounce and bobble around like some others. The headband adjust nicely and seems like quality material. Very comfortable to wear. The water resistance feature is great too. So far very impressed.Update Sept 2016Pivot piece on back of light broke. I did not drop it or abuse it, but I do use this light often. It is now useless. Looks like I'll be shopping for a new light. It was a great light up till this piece breaking.

Comfortable, but unreliable
This headlamp is a nice size, but it drains the battery really quickly, both turned on and not in use. I have this and a bulkier Black Diamond headlamp that I mostly use around the house for projects, and I've replaced the battery on this one four times in the span of one battery in the Black Diamond. And that one gets more use, because half the time I pick up this headlamp, the battery is dead. I originally got this as a convenient headlamp to put in my pocket for walking back home in the dark, but I only use it around the house because it drains the battery so quickly when turned off that it might be working fine when I leave the house and then out of juice when I'm heading home. When turned on to the brightest white light, I have been able to get about an hour and a half to two hours of battery time. That being said, it is really comfortable to wear and has a nice, bright beam and variety of functions. I just don't use it outdoors because it is too unreliable.

I think it is a nice lamp and very bright
I purchased this item as a gift for my boyfriend's birthday. I think it is a nice lamp and very bright. However, I agree with other posts that the clip for the battery is a little flimsy. You have to make sure you clip it just right for it to stay shut. I think he will still like the gift and how bright the light shines. The different modes are nice as well.
